to Main Bird Page| This is Bart.. He is a Red-Golden Pheasant.. These type of birds has very beautiful colors. Their life span is about 5-6 years. In general they are not very friendly birds.. but sure nice to look at.. Bart the red-golden pheasant lived most his live alone.. I put a female in with him, but he killed it.. tried a second female, he killed that one also.. He would kill any females I put in his pen, but if I put young turkeys or rabbits in with him, he did not bother them.. In fact, he lived with a rabbit for a while and seemed to like the rabbit.. Bart would start to molt around October of every year.. His colors would fade, he would loose his long tail feather.. but before spring, his colors would come back just as beautiful as in the summer... (Bart died in 2001 ) |
