Re: Cost of Ligers?

I believe Josip Marcan was the first to breed a liger in this country. I remember seeing Zeus in his circus act in NJ back in the 1980's. Josip is from Bosnia, a veterinarian turned circus trainer turned breeder of Bengal tigers in all of their color phases. I met Zeus in 1994 at his former circus c...

Re: Are Cassowarys the most dangerous bird in the world?

Pat, I am going to see if a librarian can help me open the file you sent, thanks though. Cutitdead, funny name!, I don't know how long he has kept Cassowarys but the mate died not too long ago of liver cancer. Can't remember which one is left, male or female, ( I have a tremendous variety of creatur...

Re: Are Cassowarys the most dangerous bird in the world?

Yes, thanks. This one really likes tomatoes. They are not feeding ratite diet so I would be interested to see what that gal feeds.

Re: Are Cassowarys the most dangerous bird in the world?

Thanks for the responses. Pat, my laptop went kaput where all my photos are stored on, currently using library computer, this is why I am unable to do any research. :icon-frown: I'm working p/t time at this facility so I am waiting on f/t and then to get internet at home. I was thinking ratite comme...

Re: Are Cassowarys the most dangerous bird in the world?

Pat, if you can get in touch with the former Cassowary owner, would like to chat, I now have one in my care. I hand-feed it Spanish needles (as a treat of course), it picks the daisies off the stem. I would like to get diet info, figured since I was still a member on this site, the easiest way to go...

Mandrill diet

I am unable to view the husbandry manuals online from this library computer, so I was wondering if anyone is familiar with Mandrill diets and if so, what do you feed and in what quantities?ratio, etc. Thanks! :thank:

Re: Amaizing lion and humam relationship

The bans are all about Government control and that is a whole other issue. All I am saying is it is hard to advocate ownership to someone who declaws (and she admitted that and that is why I no longer am a part of Rexano and lost total respect) and she does not handle the lion now that it is 6 years...

Re: Amaizing lion and humam relationship

I am glad you posted Zuzana. She has had this lion from a cub and declawed it and yet she still can not lay on it, ride it, love it the way she should be able too for spending so much time with this lion. If you notice, Tippi does not have a stick to hit the cat with it in her hand if it misbehaves ...

Re: Amaizing lion and humam relationship

I am not trying to offend anyone here, just stating what my heart and experience has led me to feel after so many years. I own 10 acres of which 3 are for my 1 horse. In order for me to own or keep 1 big cat, 1 or 2 acres would still not be sufficient, but this is how I feel. When cats are worked on...

Re: Amaizing lion and humam relationship

Big cats in captivity are not going to act like their wild cousins as they are fed every day and are bored to death, I had a family member liken it to being imprisoned in a cell and having no where to go and he was right. It made me rethink things. I have been working with big cats since I was 26 in...

Re: Amaizing lion and humam relationship

Thanks Taigafox for posting those photos. Tippi's stance is hypocritical but very few (if any with lions) can handle their cats the way Tippi did. So many people get lions, tigers, leopards only to either give them away in Animal Finder's Guide to people with permits or have them spend the rest of t...

Re: Virginia Opossums?

I am not online much anymore (different job, no wifi access) but I have a question. My first opossum that I had for rehab/release was so tame that he became a pet and he just passed away after 3 years. Now that I am working under an additional wildlife permit, I have received a total of 7 babies now...

Re: Cute Wolf Story

Hey, Purple Cat, rumor has it that in North Central Florida, wolves have bee reintroduced. This would be the red wolf. Someone has said that it may mean only one, but it is encouraging. Where I live, FL panthers are prolific, there is so much country, isolation and food for them to eat out here.

Re: Flea control for VA opposums?

I finally tracked down a former client who has had pet opposums for years, he uses Capstar and has used the feline Frontline with no ill effects. So, I tried the Capstar last night and Mufasa is fine. That should do the trick.

Re: TIGER & LION CARE MANUALS

Thanks for the links. Also in that Nebraska diet are horse by-products which is key to that diet, the innards of the horse, not just the flesh. They talked about the horse bone also in one of those links. I would just replicate what a lion or tiger or leopard eat naturally in the wild, don't underst...
