Re: Pics of my gray fox, Shawnee. :)

Yeah, that's about it. Lol. The people that had them didn't want them anymore. They wanted a red fox kit, but the breeder was sold out. The breeder was downsizing so they bought Misty and Rusty to raise their own baby and Shawnee so they'd have a house fox while they were waiting for a red kit. Once...

Re: Hi. I'm back. :)

...Continued. Sorry, I'm at work posting on my phone and it has a character limit... even though we'd just met. It was an important bonding experience for us and a dream come true for me. I've always wanted to share my life with a fox and her hugging me was one of the most precious moments of my lif...

Re: Hi. I'm back. :)

Hi. Sorry I haven't replied. It's hard having only part time internet access. Lol. We actually named Shawnee after the town of Shawnee, Oklahoma. We had a hard time finding a vet to check out the foxes so we could legally bring them into Arkansas and finally a vet in Shawnee agreed to do it. I think...

Re: What's it Like Being a Gray Fox Owner?

She makes sounds similar to the reds but she's not as noisy as they are. I'll try to record some of her sounds. She usually is quiet unless she's begging for attention, then it's squealing noises. When I go to leave it's more of a whining noise.

Re: Pics of my gray fox, Shawnee. :)

She will be 3 years old this spring. We've had her for about 2 years. I like gray foxes appearance because they are so sleek and graceful. Very beautiful and unique creatures and very different from red foxes in body shape and personality. She is a single fox right now. I would like to breed her and...

Re: What's it Like Being a Gray Fox Owner?

Aw that's cool to hear. You're very welcome. I have more videos and pics, but I'm moving, but that may have to be put off until we see if the reds have kits. There's no longer internet where I live, so I've been using friends and family internet. Lol. I should have normal access again once we move a...

Re: What's it Like Being a Gray Fox Owner?

I forgot to answer your second question. Arkansas law says you can have up to 6 of each fox species without needing a permit but intact females and males cannot be kept together without a breeder permit. Oklahoma law says you must have a non-commercial breeder permit for foxes under 1 year; no permi...

Re: What's it Like Being a Gray Fox Owner?

I LOVE my gray fox Shawnee. We have two reds and a gray. They were all adults when we got them, but from my experience gray foxes make amazing pets. The red foxes remind me of furry two year olds. They're stubborn, spoiled and will steal anything they can get ahold of. Keys, coat sleeves, cameras......

Pics of our canada and african geese.

Some of you may remember my post about a rescued goose egg after the nest was desttoyed and parents were killed by a dog on my grandpa's pond. Here he and his mate are, all grown up. :) Our african goose just laid her first egg about a month ago and made a nest. Poor girl, it's a little cold for tha...

Hi. I'm back. :)

I've been away from the forum for awhile and just thought I'd say hi. I've been without internet because my ISP/cell phone company went out of buisness and there really aren't any other providers where I live in the middle of nowhere. I'm in the slow process of moving and once again will be able to ...

As for having a gray and red together, I think this subject is still debatable. I interned at a zoo that kept a red fox and an arctic fox in the same enclosure 24/7 with no problems (as far as I knew), otherwise they would have separated them... Currently, an interesting anecdotal situation is set ...

I wouldn't recommend a gray and red fox together. They're natural competitors in the wild. Our gray fox Shawnee has grown up around our pair of red foxes since she was a couple months old and they were 3 years. They have always been in seperate pens but in their last home their pens shared a wall. T...

Shawnee loves squeaky toys too. :) She prefers rubber toys to any other kind but she tears them up very quickly. Misty loves squeaky toys of any type and Inari used to love any kind of stuffed toy. Neither male fox likes toys. I don't know if that's a coincidence or not. Rusty will play with Misty i...
