Re: Hip Dysplasia in foxes

As Mary said it is a genetic condition which though it can be triggered by diet more often then not it does eventually show itself over time. 1yr of age should be a good time to test as they are all adults by that time and capable of having their own litters. I know about the problems associated wit...

Hip Dysplasia in foxes & Genetic issues

So my male Arctic fox has hip dysplasia which is something common in large breeds of dog (think German shepherd, Siberian husky and so forth). Slush is quite obviously not a large animal. The vets have never been too sure how old he is, maybe it's an age thing but he is for sure under 10 so I am ver...

Re: Red Fox hunting Arctic fox photo (warning: graphic)

Glad I paid enough attention to all of mine when they were young and saw how different they were so I have avoided this sort of thing.
Geez!

Re: Arctic diet ?

You should find that your fox will slim down in the summer. I have had arctics for a good while now and every winter they get a little plump but in the summer their metabolism seems to speed up and they end up looking rather slender. Don't worry too much about people saying your fox is fat if that i...

Re: Do domestic Dogs besides sled Dogs ever howl at the moon

Not at the moon but my klee kai howl when I leave the house. They run to the window which is on the side of the house the garage is and they howl like "don't leave me mom!". They howl if they hear a dog howl on youtube. They however don't howl at the moon and they are more or less mini sle...

Re: Need help getting rid of bad habits

How is he doing now? Still improving? To prevent him wanting to keep going where he shouldn't you need to get rid of the smell so bio washing liquid is great for that, bio, hot water and a scrubbing brush. If you can remind yourself to take him out/let him out at least every hour that should also he...

So cute!

We have not had more then 2 inches of snow this year MAX so my arctics are pretty unimpressed but then I have friends in the states who are still getting snow now when we have daffodils everywhere.

Re: Snow leopard domestication project

I have one friend in the UK who had a snow leopard and despite the fact he has every license under the sun he could not get a second. Snow leopards are as rare as rocking horse poop. They are also generally banned due to their status as protected. My friend who had one had her for FIFTEEN years ever...

Re: New puppy!

Poms are super cute! You say he is quiet for a Pom but I know a lot of poms and none of them yap. All the poms I know are pretty quiet. Look on the plus side, potty training a small breed is much nicer then a large breed as larger dogs make bigger "puddles" shall we say and smaller ones ea...

They are pretty cute! Just googled them. I know a woman on FB who has a yorkie with loads of white, had no clue it wasn't just a non breed standard Yorkie. Learn something new every day! I know it is really short notice but if your sister can get up to Michigan it's Premier next month which is one o...
