Re: Ripping Out Fur

Looks a little worse today and she isn't doing very well. She's hiding in her igloo and will whine if I approach. So she's obviously in a good amount of pain.

I called the vet and set up a time for her to go in tomorrow.

Re: Ripping Out Fur

Okay, I put on some antibiotic ointment. Hopefully she'll be okay. I need to let her future owner know what happened.

Re: Ripping Out Fur

I wish they liked to be brushed. That would help a lot. I haven't ever tried brushing Luna. When she heals up, I may try that.

I don't know if they were mats or not. I run my fingers all down through their fur and don't ever feel anything.

Thanks for the advice.

Ripping Out Fur

During the summertime, some foxes will just rip out their winter coats. Fable has done this every single year and has patches of little bleedy bald spots on his hips during this time. Ifrit a few times has ripped out the fur on her chest. One of the foxes I interned with a while ago also did that. W...

I'm sure he'll make all the necessary adjustments when the needs arise. :) I'm excited to "meet" Tyr since he'll be the first arctic in the "spotlight."

Re: Loki the fox's owner Noel Castillo will be getting a new fox. And it is an arctic fox.

I'm glad he's ready to move forward and get another fox. :) My only concern is arctics tend not to do well in a house environment, and typically require outdoor enclosures--even moreso than reds it seems. An arctic can be okay outside (even in Florida) especially with a misting fan and shade. But ma...

Re: Louisiana State Vet school

It's like all those dog rescues that go in and save dogs during natural disasters. Instead of locating the original owner, they sell them as rescues. They don't even wait. Really upsetting to me.

Re: Quick question about contacting people

You don't need to worry. Elina is very nice. Lots of people in the Alaskan Klee Kai community probably message her through facebook. I wouldn't stress about it.

She is busy, so may not get back to people about fox-related questions. I know her focus has shifted to AKK breeding.

Good luck.

Re: Kit found outside, need help

Hi, I responded in your intro thread above. I just want to repeat that in most states it is illegal to keep a wild-caught fox. So finding a vet willing to treat it is going to be near impossible to find. It needs to be given to a state-licensed rehabber or put back where it was found. Lots of times ...

Re: Hello + Fox Help

Hi, and welcome to the board! In most states keeping it would be illegal. It needs to go to a licensed rehabber or be put back where it was found. If you do decide to keep it anyway, we can help you out with any fox problems that arise. If you need anything, let us know and hopefully we can help. Ar...

I hope the sloths are okay... especially the one with the baby and the pregnant one. They're probably so stressed out.

Re: Pale Fox info and diet

This is great. As I've learned more about pale foxes, I think they're the type of little fox I would like. Fennecs are cute, but awfully high-strung. Whereas the pales just seem... chill with life and sweet.

It's important to get dietary info out there, so thank you for providing this.
