Re: Raising coyote pup

In my limited experience with one coyote I got the chance to work with... I think they're like dogs on crack. Very hyper animals that use their mouths a LOT to communicate. The one I worked with loved to lunge at the face. She wasn't well-trained though, so it's important to start while your pup is ...

Re: Hi everyone - greetings, background, my fuzzy fam

Hi. It's great to have such a knowledgeable member joining us. :) Definitely sounds like you've been around the block with animals, lol.

Sadly in many states it's illegal to rehab coyotes. Here in Utah it's illegal to rehab raccoons and foxes--they need to be put down. :(

USDA APHIS Fencing

Asking for a friend. What are the exact requirements of the fence? I was looking online and couldn't find anything, and I'm not sure where my CD has gone with the pamphlet info. Is the pamphlet info online somewhere? Or does someone know this off the top of their head? They're wondering if they coul...

Re: Trying to Pee

Nova has learned not to swallow when we put the syringe in the back pocket of his mouth... He just lets it all sit in there, and will wait a very, very long time. And then lets it drip out of his mouth. This new medicine doesn't taste bad, so he doesn't mind it sitting in his mouth. But he doesn't s...

That's probably because he has a permit, probably a USDA-license too, to own them and might be exempt. You could always message him and ask what his exemption is.

Re: Trying to Pee

So after LOTS of vet visits, tests, and even hospitalization, it was determined poor Nova has kidney failure. The doctor thinks he can last a few months on a regimen, and getting sub-q fluids in, and a prescription diet, but ultimately he will need to be put down. :( Since he's so young and nothing ...

Re: blue bay shepherds: should they be considered a wolf hybrid and are they regulated as one?

If it has wolf blood in it, it would be considered a wolfdog/hybrid. So wouldn't be okay. Sorry, :( The Blue Bay Shepherds are beautiful.

Re: Trying to Pee

Thanks. So they are very sure it isn't the parasite, so that's good at least. They gave him some fluids and did a blood test and are going to keep him hospitalized for three days. He's very dehydrated. And also emaciated. They're very concerned about his condition. That being said, he's active and a...

Re: Trying to Pee

So he's not getting any better. I think he has Capillaria plica. I don't know for sure, but it's very common in North American foxes. He has all the symptoms that go along with it. So when he goes in to the vet tomorrow, I'm going to have them check for that as well as other things. Keep fingers cro...

Re: Trying to Pee

He hasn't gotten any better about taking his medicine. Even when we do hold his mouth shut he struggles like he's dying and tries everything possible to get it out--even exhaling really hard through his cheek so it sprays out. We're getting most of it in him though. He stopped peeing blood two days ...

Re: Trying to Pee

So the syringe feeding went... okay... He really hates that stuff and would shake his head each time we squirted some in his mouth. He had to be fully restrained with bite gloves, even though he was being pretty good, just didn't want to take the risk of getting bit. So more or less he got his antib...
