Re: Weird Blood Levels

Wow, thank you Mary!! Symptoms fit. Muscle pain, abdominal pain, swelling face... I am in Southern California though, and it’s not so common here, though not unheard of. It’s going to be another 400 or 500 to check, sigh... I’ve already spent more than 700 this week on vet bills. The other option is...

Re: Weird Blood Levels

Oh my gosh, really?? The vet said her lymph glands felt fine, so I kind of discounted Lyme causing it, but that’s very interesting that you found a different disease with that symptom. I’ll keep searching...

Re: Weird Blood Levels

So we’re at the vet again.... Now her face is swelled up... It’s equal on both sides... I’m wondering if it could be from the ticks she had? Lyme causes lymph gland swelling, could that look like facial swelling?

She was going to get another blood test next week, I will definitely add a Lyme test...

Re: Weird Blood Levels

Oh no, sorry to hear about your dog as well! And yes, it's frustrating for sure about the vet and acting different. The e-vet said that elevated amylase and lipase levels don't indicate pancreatitis in many, many cases, so she wasn't concerned about that at all, actually. She's acting ok now, so I'm...

Re: Weird Blood Levels

Thanks, Pat. She was progressively better all week and then yesterday acted like she was dying, crying every time she moved, hunching her back, crawling into weird spaces and getting up a minute later to find a new one, etc... So we took her to the emergency vet. After a LONG wait, they finally saw ...

Re: Weird Blood Levels

The vet didn't actually do anything other than draw blood (and X-ray because I wanted to be absolutely sure it wasn't bloat)... Her urine is yellow but she's been resting for 2 days now. Do you know how rhabdomyolysis is related to pancreatitis? Or do the elevated amylase/lipase come from kidney dam...

Re: Weird Blood Levels

Omg I have never heard of that... She is an afghan hound so it is very possible!! Do you know much about it? Will she return to normal by herself or do you think additional veterinary intervention is necessary? This is so scary... She already had an emergency pyometra spay 6 months ago, so worried a...

Weird Blood Levels

Anyone have any idea what this could indicate? My dog had a few days of intense physical activity (weekend trip), and then suddenly started crying when she moved, especially if touched around the chest area. I took her to the vet, who suspected muscle fatigue and did a blood test to be sure. Sure en...

Re: "Extinct" Javan Tiger Spotted in Wild

I think it's a leopard. From that distance and with so much grain in the photo, I think spot patterns could look like stripes. The head and tail also just scream leopard to me... Edit to add photo... Here is a Javan leopard; the body looks VERY similar to me, and if you unfocused your eyes a bit, th...

Re: Harnesses

I actually use a tiny martingale collar for my cat. Obviously I wouldn't want to yank on his little neck, but he can't slip it since it tightens against pulling.

I heard that his body was found in a bag on Krystelle's property…if true, that seems substantial evidence.
