Re: Weight management

4-health is pretty good. sounds like he has a full day and is set in his ways already. what kind of meat did you try giving him? I give mine cooked chicken breast, then put it through the grinder. also a little bit of cooked sweet potatoes in their mix. also, a few mini marshmallows. some fruit. hav...

Re: Weight management

once a day for kibble is better. what brand do you feed him?
does he eat chicken? I feed mine ground cooked chicken, eggs, fruit and prunes. (my oldest one loves prunes) very little grain free dog food.

overall, it doesn't sound like Yatzee is overweight. how old is yatzee now?

Re: "Sic" Emu

here is some info about emus. http://www.sybilsden.com/caresheet/emus.htm I use to have about 4 or more emus awhile ago. I actually got some from the zoo. the ones I got from the zoo all died from the meningeal worm icon-sad the zoo did give me a couple more which were better. your emu sounds like i...

Re: my beagle?

I hope Lucy is continuing to do well! I've been getting more and more worried about my Cinnamon. I'm almost positive (based on what the vet said and research I did myself) that Cinnamon has an enlarged spleen causing his chronic pain. Poor guy sometimes breathes heavy, he doesn't like his stomach t...

Re: Tick paralysis - anyone have experience with rehab?

It wasn’t bad. Just sad. He definitely had a personality and a will to live! I know you tried. guess there was really not much that could have been done... again, sorry for your loss icon-sad sad the momma left it behind. but, that is what wild animals do when one is sick. icon-sad maybe you can fi...

Re: Weight management

juska, I loved the video. so darn cute. that is certainly a nice food/treat dish. however, raccoons are rougher than cats are. a raccoon might end up breaking it. some don't have the patience as a cat does. raccoons are not as gentle as a cat. at least mine isn't. however, working with one raccoon m...

Re: Weight management

I agree with Deweysmom. good info.( also like the link you posted) when I get a chance, I will check it out better. I would like to add another idea. by nature, raccoons are scavengers. of course not as much as a wild raccoon. guess my point is, you can put a little food in one place, then another s...

Re: Foods To Avoid for Dogs, Foxes, etc. (Updated 5-27-2009)

Right, why is meat meal on this list? I see no evidence against it. what does meat meal consist of? I don't feed my dogs dog food. they won't eat it anyway  the only dog food they will eat, is "Merrick" (of course, it is the most expensive) overall, they get cooked chicken, sw...

Re: my beagle?

the "autoimmune" prescription works wonders on Lucy. She goes outside a lot more, she is more active and attentive. she is eating good. I have to wonder if she still needs the prednisone? I thought long term is not good? she has a vet appointment on Monday. so with hope, her blood levels a...

Re: Tick paralysis - anyone have experience with rehab?

I won’t get another one unless one needs to be rescued. Little Rhett did have some skeletal deformities. The vet guessed that is why mama raccoon left and didn’t come back. usually, when there are baby wild animals left behind, momma senses that they are sick. again, I am sorry you had to endure th...

Re: Distemper questions

Britt0614, welcome to sybils message board. I am very sorry you have to endure the suffering of a raccoon icon-sad is there anyone you know that has a gun that would put the raccoon down? I get upset too when any animal is suffering. :icon-frown: do you think there is any vet that would put him down...

Re: Tick paralysis - anyone have experience with rehab?

No, he never learned to walk. He had some skeletal deformations in his front left leg and his front right leg seemed to be affected by the paralysis. He had a couple of tiny ticks when he was very little (still on bottle) and almost died. He didn’t move, he didn’t want to eat, he was just like a li...

Re: my new duck

She sounds super cute! I had a couple chickens that had to come inside (when the weather was cold (for mom's and babies) or they were injured or sick) and I always liked it. Chickens and ducks make great pets. . where did you keep your chickens when they come in the house? I have chickens too, but ...
