Re: Biting

so glad you husband now realizes about the play biting.

sadly, some people will treat a raccoon or other exotics like they were a dog. we know there is a difference and need to handle them differently.

thank you for letting us know how the outcome.

Re: Biting

I agree with trefoil. never play rough with a raccoon or any exotic animal. especially when they are young. who know, maybe your raccoon will look at you and your husband as a big "chew toy" raccoons can and will learn words. it just takes a little longer than a dog sometimes. when h...

Re: Sick fox?

it is hard to tell by the picture if the fox is sick. but the fact it is running down the street during the day don't sound good. as far as the kittens, yep, foxes will kill and eat kittens. I had that happen here long time ago. also, a friend of mine use to feed the feral cats, and they all went mi...

Re: Sleeping in cage

my opinion is, It is not a good idea to keep a raccoon in a cage at night. as dana mentioned, they are nocturnal animals. However, sometimes mine will be awake in the morning for awhile, or even afternoon. keeping a racoon caged is asking for aggression issues. (exception would be if the raccoon is ...

Re: Raccoon Cough?

the epsom salt you put in the bath might have caused it. just use pet shampoo the next time.
make sure your racoon is rinsed well.

Re: Video of Giz and Grainger: Cats and Coons can be friends...

the video worked now. that is so darn adorable. raccoons can get along with many different types of animals.
I seen your dog there, looks like an aussie? I have an aussie, they are so intelligent.

my dogs play with the raccoons more than my cats do. my cats are probably older than yours is.

Re: Fox or dog

keeping a fox indoors is a very bad idea. I will tell you about my very first fox, maybe this will give you an idea. I kept her in the house alot, but also had an outdoor enclosure which I would put her in for awhile every day. however, she had had free run of my house. (I have a very big house, whi...

Re: Loki the fox's owner Noel Castillo will be getting a new fox. And it is an arctic fox.

He's getting a red fox after all, a glacier. I think he'll be happier with that even though wasn't his first choice since he has had a red before he will be better prepared for that. glad to hear that. I too think he will be better off with a red fox family fox. actually, donnie is a glazer fox (wh...

Re: opinions on home made dog food

thank you Lara and Mary for the info. I usually put sweet potatoes in their food, but, the last couple batches I didn't, cause I forgot to get them  however, I did put rice in her food, put some veggies also. she wouldn't eat it. but, finally she did. on the egg, I give her raw eggs once in aw...

opinions on home made dog food

I took Lucy (my beagle) to the vet a few days ago... reason was, Lucy looked like she was constipated. the vet (new vet) said Lucy was not getting enough carbs. her colon was filled with air. vet told me to put veggies, fruits in her diet. I have been feeding her cooked chicken breasts for a long ti...

Re: Getting Baby Coon

aliiicattt welcome to syibls den. I assume the raccoon is from the wild? most states require a bill of sale to get a permit. that is going to be the hard part. check out the legalities in your state for keeping a raccoon. https://sybilsden.com/bb/viewforum.php?f=71 if you have a raccoon from the wil...

Re: Wearing a harness

How old did you, if you did, start putting a harness on your coonies? Also, when did you start litterbox training? collars and harnesses are hard to keep on a raccoon. they have busy little hands. not sure if there is a harness that would work. I personally never used a harness on mine. are you pla...

Re: Loki the fox's owner Noel Castillo will be getting a new fox. And it is an arctic fox.

Mary, I just watched a couple of his videos. sorry, but my opinion is NO, he don't know how to handle a fox. I know foxes mark. when mine were in the house (not 24/7) anytime I caught Daryl marking, I would yell, NO. he stopped before he even started. I never got bit by any of my foxes. They never s...
