Re: Aggressive coon, need help!

I agree with every ones response. the cage is the problem. Please consider an outdoor enclosure when you are not at home. I can give you some ideas on an enclosure if you want to consider that. do you have dogs? if so, raccoons usually will play with a dog, and even learn a little from them. I have ...

Re: A quick update on Sushi...

Sushi my tanuki was taken acutely ill a few weeks ago and after a few red herrings it transpired that he had meningitis/encephalitis or something along those lines. Some weeks of heavy medication, stress and intensive care later, he is vastly improved and dare I say it, nearly back to normal. :) so...

Re: To those thinking of taking on a fox this year....

excellent post. when I get a chance, I would also like to put this on my care sheet with credit to you. thank you for posting that. I agree about the enclosure, it is a MUST. the bigger the better, and lots of places for a fox to hide and nap. my foxes like to be up high. but, at times, on the botto...

Re: October Crazies

foxes can have different personalities, just like people.

for you boyfriend, he could try sitting or laying on the floor and handing her a treat with his arm extended out. it helps when a human is more at their level to start out with.

Re: October Crazies

I will be honest, I have raised 4 foxes for 14 years. I honestly never experienced any october crazys with mine. also from my experience, fox don't have the same disposition everyday. at least mine don't. I never got bit or seen aggression in mine. the only thing I know is a fox kit is friendly. but...

Re: HELLO! I need help!

Also I failed to mention I'm afraid to put traps because he had leg surgery a few months ago and his leg is pretty much metal. what about his foot? I am talking more about a foot trap. however, it is something you should know about where he is and stand by and wait.. but, not knowing where he is fo...

Re: HELLO! I need help!

sorry to hear about your missing fox. hopefully, he will come back. put flyers up with a picture, contact everyone you know in your neighborhood. he could be closer than you think. at least I hope so. one of my foxes got out long time ago, he was about a mile away. fortunately, he was near a house w...

Re: I might get another fox and question

Ammonia won't deter rats I'm afraid. If anything, they seem drawn to it. Ammonia and other urine smells mean animals which mean potential food sources. I've had a bit of an issue now we're having a cold snap with rats around my chickens and the bloody things are in and out of the fox enclosure too....

Re: I might get another fox and question

They are probably nesting in the house at this point. A new fox wont be enough even if it does hunt them but there's no guarantee it will. Ideally you would have to find and block off all access points then kill all that are in the home. For a heavy infestation fumigation is probably best. You and ...

I might get another fox and question

Does anyone have rat issues in their fox enclosure? somehow rats are getting in my basement and in my attic. I am not sure how to stop this. I seen this morning they bored a small hole in my kitchen ceiling  I have heard that ammonia deters rats. I thought of putting ammonia around the hous...
