Re: Raising coyote pup

Hi there! If you search the forum, you can find some of my experiences with Totem, a coyote I worked with at a sanctuary from the time he was a pup until he was a few years old. Some things I learned while working with him- when they are getting too mouthy, letting out a high pitched squeal (and obv...

Re: bobcat hybrids?

I ran across this recently.

They look like bobcat hybrids to me, and if they are legit, then yeah, I totally want one.

Re: Alaskan Noble Companion Dogs

ANCDs are wolfdogs. Several have been embark DNA tested and have come back with 30+% wolf.
I know of at least two brother/sister pairings that the breeder has done.

Re: Peke-Faced and Doll-Faced Persians

I'm usually never fearful of animals. I respect them. I know that they can detect your fear. Being attacked by a cat, no matter what type, isn't a very pleasant experience. Even domestic cats can cause a pretty bad mauling. I'm just wary of Bengals. That doesn't really answer my question. (Also, th...

Re: Peke-Faced and Doll-Faced Persians

I love Bengals! But I'm afraid of them because I got attacked by a Bengal owned by a friend's family. damn, they're high jumpers! ... Maybe, 25 years from now, I'll own a cougar icon-smile I don't want to sound mean, but if you are afraid of a domestic breed of cat, why do you want to own an exotic...

Re: Peke-Faced and Doll-Faced Persians

Doll-faced persians are closer to the original breed type. I don't know much about persians (my cat breed is the bengal) but I imagine that they are certainly soft and fluffy, but not quite to the extreme as the PFP.

Re: Stop assuming human evil

I recently saw a video showing a man training a sun bear using positive reinforcement, and of the comments I saw, MAYBE one of them wasn't screaming "OMG ABUSE" It was a short clip from this video posted to facebook. Even the people who begrudgingly admitted he wasn't abusing him/her were ...

Re: Cougars as Pets

I worked with them for a few years. In comparison to the african lions, they were a lot more predictable, but "cuddly" is not a word I would apply to them. Their body language was a lot clearer. As everyone said above, they do need to be handled from an early age. Preferably pulled from th...

Re: My Fox Is A Bully

Maybe it's the fact that Ifrit isn't spayed? Daisy (who is spayed) absolutely hated Kismet until I got Kismet spayed. Maybe it is something about how she smells? I dunno. Daisy is a weirdo.

Re: Are Importation Laws Enforced?

I'm in KY and I can tell you, I have searched and searched for loopholes, and there aren't any. There are plenty of threads here on Sybils (most by me) looking for said loopholes. KY won't even (legally) let you drive through the state with a fox. You have to have a 24 hr, temporary transport permit...

Re: Which species do you least want

In regards to sugar gliders, I loved mine and would probably have them again. They don't stink TOO bad if you're meticulous about cleaning their cage and they are on a proper diet, but they do have an odor. imo it isn't quite is bad as a ferret. But maybe that is because I'm not a fan of ferrets. An...

Re: Animal Species Nicknames

Another I thought of was: Housewolf (dogs) SemiHousewolf (wolfdog) As a wolfdog owner, and northern breed dog owner, I wouldn't use either of those. Ever. People are already waaayyyyy too quick to call my dogs "pure wolf" or "coyote" or whatever wild animal is on their mind when...

Re: Arctic Fox in Kentucky

Here in KY, we can own one, but we cannot import them. They don't issue import permits, ever. (That I have ever heard of) Not even for people to travel through the state temporarily. If you ever found a USDA licensed breeder within the state (there isn't one) you could have one, but beyond that, it'...

Re: "Beautiful Fur Animals" + sequel for sale

Ash, you can price the books however you want. They are yours and people will buy them or not. $89 is still well over my budget because, as I said before, I lost my job and I have to worry more about feeding my animals and myself before a cool book. And yes, it is a rare book here. Try searching eba...
