Re: Tanuki Keepers... Lend me your Knows.

I'm not a tanuki owner because unfortunately they are illegal in my country, but I'd love to hear about your little guy when you get him because I've always thought they were adorable and interesting little canines.

Re: New Recruit! No name yet, any suggestions?

He's so cute. In going with celestial names like Juska suggested, how about Raphael (sp?), Michael, Michael-Angel-o ( pun on Michael Angelo, or you know, just the actual Micheal-Anglo name), Halo,Moon, Moon Beam, Moonlight, Twilight, or for his color, Snowball, Snowy, Snowfall, Snowdrop, Snowflake, ...

Re: Shadow dogs

Probably just a nightmare, but the black dogs with glowing eyes remind of the stories of the Black Shuck with other varieties simply known as Black Dogs:

Re: FOX BREEDERS IN TEXAS(orwillingtoship)? Need help finding!

Unfortunately, the only way to legally have a fox in Texas is to have the fur-ebearing permit. While in other states, this can be used as loopholes to own pets or bred foxes as pets, this is sadly not the case in Texas. If I remember correctly, the law even states that you have to prove that you sol...

Re: Handling wolves and HC wolfdogs

[ One reason for the keepers being alone in the pen is that it's been part of their work tast to feed the wolves who have a harder time claiming their place in the pack. They have then hidden meat in bags under their jackets to make sure the more dominant wolves don't take the meat from the subdomin...

Re: Wild-caught animals

Oh. I had no ideas about the inbreeding problems for fennecs. I just assumed they had a stable captive population because here in the South atleast it seems like there are a ton of fennec fox breeders, even more than the amount of red fox breeders. As far as I can tell here in the South, there are v...

Re: Which species do you least want

They're a little bit cute, but they kind of remind me of Chihuahua's with their large ears and I'm not too fond of that breed.

Re: DNA Study Reveals the One and Only Wolf Species in North America

Well it happened. I was afraid this "study" would cause something like this. USFWS is moving towards discontinuing all recovery efforts for red wolves. https://www.biologicaldiversity.org/news/press_releases/2016/red-wolf-03-24-2016.html Bowing to political pressure, t he Fish and Wildlife...

Re: Need help rehoming my coon

It would be helpful if you posted what state you were in so other users would know if they were in the same state or a state that's close to see if they'd be able to take in the raccoon. Edit: Just looked up Akron Zoo and apparently it's a zoo in Ohio. So I'm assuming your coon that needs rehoming i...

Re: Wild-caught animals

I'm not against taking animals from the wild if two conditions are meant: A. The most important point is that they must not be an endangered or threatened species. B. There are none or very few of the species available in captivity. Taking endangered and threatened species from the wild would make t...

Re: Canuk the crow assulted

Releasing tame animals is bad and dangerous for the animals. Not a bird, but there was a very tame wolf named Romeo in Alaska that went up to people and dogs and interacted with them and some idiot hunter killed him because he was an easy target. :/ Not sure if people would hunt a crow too or not th...

Re: Which species do you least want

Just thought of more. Though I might not turn one down if offered for free, I 'm surprisingly not interested in bat-eared foxes nor fennec foxes. The large ears just aren't very appealing to me. I would probably never actually purchase either of those species of fox.
