Re: I think I want a Fennec Fox

The $25 fee is only for native, if I remember correctly, and fennecs are exotic. Crittercamp Exotics is a rescue, and Beth has several fennec foxes. :) It's located in Rockford if you're close by there at all. Maybe you could arrange a visit to see hers. She's had a LOT of them over the years. They...

Nutrition - I think I want a Fennec Fox

They are just so cute with those big ears!!! Do you need a permit for Fennecs? I know you need permits to own Red Foxes and other types of Foxes. But it seems to me Fennecs are more of a popular pet fox and I've seen more and more people able to own them compared to other Foxes. I also live in Illin...

Re: Best states to live in

Also doesn't local laws overrule state laws? I've been told a State may let you own a Fox but some local area laws will surpass the state law in a heartbeat making it even more confusing to which area of the state to live in to own a fox or any exotic.

Do domestic Dogs besides sled Dogs ever howl at the moon?

My neighbor just got this Dog and it looks like a mix of a lab and they don't really know what other breed the Dog is mixed with. It got me curious because this Dog howls at the moon quite a bit and I don't recall seeing many Labrador retrievers howl at the moon like this. Could it be part Coyote? O...

Crocodile Monitors played the Velociraptors in Jurassic Park

I was watching some fact thing about Crocodile Monitors and it said for a fun fact that Crocodile Monitors were used to help portray the Velociraptors in Jurassic Park. If that was really true I am now interested in Crocodile Monitors as I love Jurassic Park and it got me into the hobby of Reptiles....

Re: Skinks are SO underrated...

I think Skinks are always foreshadowed by the Bearded Dragon. I was at a pet store the other day they had both a Blue Tounged Skink and a Bearded Dragon of course the Bearded Dragon was picked out and sold. Don't Skinks have a similar personality to a Bearded Dragon as well?

Re: Should I use sand or not for my Bearded Dragons tank?

I've been pretty happy with ZooMed's stuff, so if theirs is proven to be safe, then I'd go with them if you do want yours on sand. Glad to hear he's doing well and that he's growing up. :) Hopefully you can get him to start eating the greens. I actually might think mine might be a female actually I...

Re: Should I use sand or not for my Bearded Dragons tank?

This link goes over all the substrates that are good or bad for beardies: http://beardeddragoncaresheet.weebly.com/housing.html . It's one of the best caresheets I have found about them. Sand is a very debatable substrate. Many keep theirs on it without issue, and others have experienced impaction ...

Should I use sand or not for my Bearded Dragons tank?

I've been using Newspaper because I've been reading online that Bearded Dragons can eat the sand and can cause them to become impacted. But yet I've also heard online sand is fine as wild Bearded Dragons are on it all the time in the Australian Deserts. I'm about to buy a 40 Gallon tank and it comes...
