Re: "Best" state?

I believe Florida may be good option if you are usda with big cats. It has more tigers than the state of texas for one thing. Also, it's climate is great for keeping crocs outside.

Re: Deffinition of Emotional Support Animals will be changed

It is 100% attention seeking. These are the people who have their animals loose in the house, no outdoor enclosure, maybe a small cage in the house to confine them. They dress them in human clothes and put diapers on them, sometimes even going as far as to pierce their monkeys' ears. They are delusi...

Re: Deffinition of Emotional Support Animals will be changed

I see so many people trying to get around primate bans by getting their pet capuchins and lemurs registered as an esa, just so they can bring them into stores and restaurants. I'm glad it's getting tightened up, it's a ticking time bomb.

Re: Greetings from Belgium

The EU is banning them, but existing owners are allowed to keep theirs, but not sell or trade them, or breed them. They must be neutered, and kept in a secure, escape proof enclosure. They can only be moved if going to the vet, the owner is moving house, or they are being surrendered to a zoo or san...

Re: Can someone list some exotic birds.

Glad to help. I love talking about animals. : ) The funny thing is that American wild birds are allowed to be kept in Europe bt generally not America and vice versa. So depending on where you live these animals are available. You can keep native European raptors quite easily. Barn owl chicks are le...

Taxonomically/scientifically, they are not. Legally, for ownership/licencing/ban purposes they are.

Re: Bad Primate Breeders?

I don't know about Poggi, I've seen his site and he has multiple other exotics, including a leopard, that all seem well taken care of.

The breeder i've heard most good things aboout is Omar Villareal, out of TX

Circus ban in Ireland

Ireland has announced that from January 2018, 'wild animals' may no longer be used in circuses. The tigers and elephants kept by circuses over the last few years had already moved to other facilities, I think there are only camels left kept by one company, who may be able to keep them as a domestic ...

Re: CITES confuses me

CITES Appendix 1 animals are illegal to trade commercially, unless they are chipped and accompanied by an A10 form stating they are captive bred. In that case they are treated as Appendix 2 species. This is no matter if the animal is a mammal, bird or reptile. Most of the legal issues surrounding CI...

Re: Tiger escaped, killed

It was not an AR release. A non keeper made a mistake, and the animal paid with it's life.
Unfortunately, Alex was the last to find out what happened, and was (still is) heartbroken over it.

Re: Hello from Poland.

It would be easier to buy a bear within the European Union. They are available every now and again. I don't know about Polish laws, that's something you'll need to look up for yourself, but you could import from a schengen area country without the need for import paperwork, cites, quarantine etc. Th...

Re: Which Nordic country you think is the most exotic friendly?

That leaves the UK and Ireland. The only animals banned are ones banned all over europe (coatimundi, raccoon, muntjac deer, sliders, mink, coypu etc) every other animal can be kept with no licence in ireland, or with a dwa in the UK, the main hassle would be importing them if they don't already exis...

Re: Which Nordic country you think is the most exotic friendly?

Denmark, Switzerland and the netherlands would be best for exotics. Netherlands has a big exotics show every year. UK and Ireland are both options if you are interested in looking into either of those. As well as germany and many other EU countries.

Re: Red fox companions

Like anything in life it depends on your situation and what you want to fox for. If you are away from home alot and are happy with an animal that's not necessarily going to be very affectionate then a companion would be good for the fox. If you want an affectionate pet and have the time to spend bon...
