Re: Ifrit's Eating Habits?

Ash, you are describing my Lucy! The towels I used to give her, looked like swiss cheese. When I see the photos of people’s fox enclosures with lovely beds and plush toys, I am so exasperated because she rips up these things and eats them, so she can’t have them. But the worst thing with Lucy is tha...

Re: The Loki Files

Crafty, I want to order Lucy some harness' like Loki's. Could you please let me know width and type of harness you have? There are SO many choices to make at the website! I was wondering if it was the "Big Kitty Cat Harness" that you bought, and if you got the 3/4" or 5/8" width....

Re: Indoor kennel floor?

That is EXACTLY what Lucy did when I used linoleum. I asked Ragtatter what her flooring was and it was "FRP panels". They are like wall panels you can use for showers. They aren't cheap but they've been PERFECT for Lucy's indoor enclosure. She hasn't damaged them one bit and they are EXTRE...

Re: Vulpes Vulpes inside

Your photography is so amazing, it should win awards! It’s so clear, it looks like it’s in 3-d, like a “viewmaster”. (Does anyone else remember those?) When you photograph, do you press and hold to make the camera keep taking successive shots or do you actually catch those unbelievably expressive po...

Re: hawk question..

I would never believe the raccoons would hurt the peacocks either. They seem perfectly happy eating the peacock food. I LOVE the raccoons. We have a lot of raccoons here. And possums and coyotes. I've never seen a fox but I frequently step outside and smell what smells like skunk. Before Lucy, I alw...

Re: hawk question..

Pat, whenever I hear an owl at night, I also go out clapping my hands and making noises to try to scare it away. I read today that hawks pluck the feathers of their victims, and usually that was all that was left of my peacocks. A huge area of feathers and sometimes a wing. I don't know why it's har...

Re: hawk question..

Pat, I have both males and females. In the beginning, it was only the males they were killing. I believe it was because their tails made it harder for them to make a fast getaway. And maybe they were more easily spotted because of their color. I also don't think the hawks, even if they are smaller, ...

Re: hawk question..

Pat, two years ago, I finally corralled all of my peacocks into the arena and haven't let them out since. Hawks had started killing them during the day but even worse, owls started killing them at night. The owls would sometimes kill as many as three a night. They would just take their heads and lea...

Re: Rolled oats?

Those are the type of oats I use. I think you should always use "old fashioned" as opposed to "instant". Also, Ragtatter said she always had fresh salmon around to use, but said canned would be okay, if you didn't. I use this: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Chicken-of-The-Sea-Skinless...

Re: Baker's Yeast or Brewer's Yeast?

TamaduaGirl, thank you SO much for your response! I have felt this was what I should be using (and have been) but always feared, if I was wrong, I might be doing Lucy harm. I can’t tell you how much I respect your phenomenal knowledge and I am very grateful for your response! I would have never know...

Baker's Yeast or Brewer's Yeast?

Baker's Yeast is what you use to make bread dough rise. It's sold in the grocery store. Brewer's Yeast is used as a nutritional supplement and is sold in health food stores. It's also listed on some feline supplements. These are definitions I got from a site: Brewer's Yeast Brewer's yeast is used to...

Re: Photos of my Lucy!

Thank you very much Crafty! What I called Lucy's "line" is actually just a very, very long 'leash' that I made out of nylon rope and we just stand out in the yard and hold it. I remember a member on here talking about a running line they put up, which you probably read, too. I thought it s...
