The first section goes over mink as an animal. The first half of the section goes over mink in the wild, and the second ha...

Re: Mink chat

Yes I have several buyers, but I still have a couple babies left to sell. I'm pretty picky about who gets one, but if you know someone interested I'd be happy to interview them :-) Here's some more recent pics https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151560945041598&set=a.10151538705551598.1073...

Re: Mink chat

So we had our first litter of baby mink just born yesterday! We had 5 boys and 2 girls, but one of the girls was a runt and didn't make it, so we're down to 5 boys and 1 girl. Here are their pictures! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151538706251598&set=a.10151538705551598.1073741827.56...

Re: Weasels

Actually, I remember reading a book about breeding martens for fur production, and in the book they said that the down side to breeding martens is that they don't have very big litters like a mink does. So maybe that's why they aren't too popular on fur farms when it would be more lucrative to breed...

Re: Weasels

Yeah you can breed American Martens in captivity. They used to have them in fur farms like they do mink and foxes. In fact, I'm pretty sure there are still some marten farms out there, I just can't tell you where. My guess is martens don't breed as easily, as mink, otherwise marten farms would be mu...

Re: The truth about mink as pets

Chapter 11 Housing Your Mink I prefer to keep my mink outside so they have more room to move around, and have less trouble they can get into than they would in the house. I also like to give mink 24 access to a swimming pool, and that can be quite messy in the house. I do let my mink inside as well...

Re: Mink chat

No, we're not going to bottle raise them. It's better for them to get mink milk, and since I have the mama mink at my house, instead of at some mink farm, I can play with the babies for several hours a day, and get them used to people that way. Then just a couple days before weaning, I'm going to se...

Re: Mink chat

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't been on here in a while! Since I was last, I've bred my really sweet female mink Roxy, and my buddy Cade's really sweet female Ruby. So hopefully we'll be having a couple litters in the next couple weeks. We were careful to breed the best mink we have, that way we hav...

Re: The truth about mink as pets

Thanks to everyone who has read and enjoyed the information I have shared. I have another chapter to add. In fact, I can think of several topics I have left out that I need to continue with, but as I'm sure you can imagine it take a lot of time to type out those chapters. I'll see if I can get after...

Re: The truth about mink as pets

Chapter 9 Taming an adult mink, and teaching the food call Here I will describe how to both tame, and train an adult mink. If your mink is already tame, then you basically follow the same process that you would with a wild mink, only difference is you won't be wearing gloves, and the process should...
