Re: Foxy had kits!

I'll defiantly have to do some thinking on the topic.

Re: Foxy had kits!

Aye, saddly true Ash.

I think it is time to give them up. I have been under a lot of pressure from coworkers and friends to do so. I got quite a bit of grief about the last two litters not making it. I'm handling things better this year, but I don't think I can go through all of this again.

Re: Foxy had kits!

I don't think so. Everything seemed fine and she was nesting till my helper brought in a bale of fresh cedar chips and was opening the bundle. That set her off.

Re: Foxy had kits!

Blast it. I decided poorly. She buried the pups to hide them. :(

She keeps calling for them so I don't think she understands.

Foxy had kits!

I counted 5 healthy mewling kits. This is her 3rd litter and so for the only one to make it. She was nesting but spooked when I brought in food and bedding to the enclosure and moved 3 of them. I am very nervous. I don't want to pull them from her, especially since I had the book with my formula rec...

Re: Someone dangerous to report!

I hope they come to my place, I'm ready to return fire. Might save some trouble for the next owner/breeder.

Re: Might be time to rehome the male...

#6 Foxy-Fox the vixen. Note the short round appearance with fuller coat a fuller haunches. Pudgy compared to him. Her tail also looks bushy.

As with all foxy photos this one has been sponsored by blurry photography.

Re: Might be time to rehome the male...

Shadow, not the rope like tail and long scrawn appearance, coupled with overall difficulty to get a non blurred fox picture.

Might be time to rehome the male...

I am considering looking into a new home for Shadow, my male red. He's a little over two now and has sired two litters with Foxy-fox. Sadly neither litter survived. He can be affectionate, but he is defiantly the most skittish of the two and will hide and stay away when it comes time to return to hi...

Re: Pacific Northwest Areas/Laws

In Idaho half the trouble is "agency rulemaking" We are pretty light on actual laws so the bureaucrats fill in the rest and their "rules" carry the weight of law. One such individual once told me "If you wanted to import 1,500 head I wouldn't have batted an eye (implying big...

Re: Mange or fleas? :( HELP

If you can get a copy of Les Stocker's "Practical Wildlife Care" in at your local library it has good info on both issues for foxes, or at least about the best that is in print that I know of.

Re: Breeding Season

I think I have gotten a much better handle on the myriad of problems of heath and odor control here. Still a little foxy smell but in general I'd say I am in a happier healthier place. The work situations have greatly improved I think. Here's a couple pics from October. Aside from Foxy's X-rays I ha...

Re: Breeding Season

Old post... but yeah it is that time of year again. Foxy (F) is starting to get a lot more vocal and pushy even though she is the shorter of the two. Shadow is being much friendlier around me letting me pet him much more than the usual aloof finger sniff as I pass.

Re: Baker's Yeast or Brewer's Yeast?

My experiments with recycling yest have been mixed. By saving old yeast and adding new nutrients you can keep it going for more batches of bread or alcohol, however the odds of the product becoming tainted with an impurity with puts off a fowl taste/color like mold goes up exponentially.
