Re: Pet jaguar personality?

I've heard the complete opposite, a zoo keeper bringing jaguar cubs onto a late night show saying they are the least dangerous of all the big cats.

Wolfdogs in Canada

I couldn't find a thread on this already, so here we go. It seems wolfdogs - I don't know how high content - are legal in BC, but not on the east coast (Newfoundland/Labrador, Nova Scotia, etc.). I'm also wondering if the established breeds of "wolfdog", like the Czechoslovakian or possibl...

Re: Blond Tayras

One of the coolest small carnivores.
It's like a cross between a bear and a ferret.
A bearret.

Re: Czech Republic

OMG DID I SEE DINGOES ON THAT PAGE? *_*
I don't know if all those ads are legit, but I saw at least two ads with dingoes.
I thought they would be almost impossible to find outside of Australia.

Re: Czech Republic

Onyx, have you seen that private individuals for sure can keep large carnivores?
Or do you need something like a USDA permit, or zoo permit?

I'm planning on moving to Ireland but keeping my options open, and I want to have the chance to keep wolves, striped hyenas and African wild dogs.

Re: White Tigers

There is some exaggerated purism that I really don't like, in AZA for example. But we already knew that. They think they are the elite and no one else is as good as them. These mutations occur in nature (no Dr Frankenstein created them in a lab), so why should it be against the rules to breed them? ...

Fox Dog Project

I've been sitting on this idea for only a couple of weeks and wondered whether I should sit on it for much longer, but since I am unlikely to ever make this reality, I can just as well spread it out to the "public domain" and let you see it as well. The idea is that while we have tons of w...

Isn't the EU banning raccoons now, as an "invasive species"? :(

Re: Dingo

It is really bizarre that Australia, a country so rife with invasive species (intentionally placed there by the government, I might add), would ban one of these "invasive but now here long enough to be called native" animals from leaving the country. I saw rumours that "Australia migh...

Re: Handling wolves and HC wolfdogs

Huh, I don't remember seeing the last post. But yes I agree, absolutely idiotic. There's a reason killer whale trainers in later decades (and I believe it's the same for all marine mammals) NEVER had fish in their hands when in the water with the whales. They're dangerous animals, and when you're in...

Re: Snow leopard domestication project

Do you think you could go get an internship in the United States? I was looking to do that, and there are always lots of listings on AZA's (I know...) site.

Can I post this on my pro-exotic animal blog? I'll credit you and link back here, if this post can be read by guests (or just to the forum, if it can't).

Re: Czech Republic

Has the EU made a continent wide ban? On what? Ireland has no ban at all, that I can see. The UK allows everything with a DWA, and they're still technically in the EU.
