Re: "Sic" Emu

It's worth trying. There's some chance that once the parasites are killed and swelling goes down in the brain there could be some improvement if the issues are from the swelling and not permanent damage.

Re: "Sic" Emu

Might be cerebral nematodiasis (brain worm disease). Pat has had to deal with that before and it presented the same as the animal unable to lift it's body or head. Unfortunately the odds of recovery are not good. Ivermectin kills the parasites but it wont reverse the brain damage.

Re: Arrival of Tiny the Fennec Fox

Welcome. It sounds like you ran across the discussion we had on fennecs and lighting already. The gross summery though, was that the light would need to be close to benefit and you need to consider UVB lights do still give off the bad UV as well. So if you have a fox like mine, that likes to lay in ...

No. They didn't leave any way for a private resident to keep one.

Re: Question about WA laws

Does not apply to you unless you live in another state and are visiting for a show. (i) Circuses, defined as incorporated, class C licensees under the animal welfare act, 7 U.S.C.A. 2131 , as amended, that are temporarily in this state, and that offer performances by live animals, clowns, and acroba...

Re: Paca

That's too bad. She was probably wild caught, thus they claimed tame rather than bottle fed or hand raised. The breeder I had contacted at the time had a waiting list of 6 years but that's the only sure way to get a pet quality one.

Re: Snake Nose Bumping

Sometimes they need something up so they don't see out to stop them bumping into the glass. The not eating could be a different problem from just the glass though. Temperature and lighting are big ones to look at. Possibly impcation as well. Try a good soak to see if he poops.

Re: Thogensen Family Farm Recalls Raw Frozen Ground Pet Food

It's sold for pets to eat but is not pet food in the traditional sense. It's just whole ground animals raw.

Re: my new duck

If you really want a house pet chicken or duck, they sell chicken and duck diapers now :D I was actually thinking about getting a small chicken for a pet before I decided to go for my dream of a fennec while I still could.

Re: Should you bath your fennec fox?

I only put coconut oil on his wrists for the fungal issue. I've not had an issue with his shedding yet but his first real shed with adult fur was last fall. But I've seen a few people have to shave their reds due to matting, which could be better prevented if you are able to brush and comb them. Do ...

Re: Should you bath your fennec fox?

Ikigai does a good job keeping himself clean as well. It seems like most people don't bath reds but for some reason bathing fennecs is a lot more common but they are desert animals and not really meant to get wet. Or Mugwais in disguise, either way, don't get them wet, :D I know breeders often have ...
