Re: AZ laws

They do not exempt USDA it's AZA or to be an educator you have to get a permit and to get a permit you have to go through a legit educational institution. Edit: but supposedly they might issue a permit if you have the animals legally already and want to move to the state. You'll have to contact the ...

Re: Nutrition - I think I want a Fennec Fox

Something I forgot before was that some fish contain Thiaminase and should not be fed regularly since it inhibits B vitamins. However Thiaminase is destroyed by cooking so if you are feeding a cooked food that has herring in it it's okay. Herring is on the list but is says baltic and apparently atla...

Re: Cat food "experiment" + comparison of wet foods

Okay, I thought the packaging wasn't quite the way I remembered. I found it. I searched for the store and cat food and managed to dig it up. It does start with an S at least :D https://www.chewy.com/supreme-source-chicken-meal-turkey/dp/152295 Could stand to have less legumes but being it's cat food...

Re: Cat food "experiment" + comparison of wet foods

I think it's the Simply Nourish Grain free chicken but I'll have to write it down next time we go shopping. I'm pretty sure it had simply in the name though so I think that's it. It's pretty good ingredients and fairly inexpensive and available at the grocery store we go to down the hill. He used to...

Re: Cat food "experiment" + comparison of wet foods

Thankfully Jake likes the dry food we get that is a fairly healthy one. I keep forgetting the name though. I know it by sight in the store. He likes Friskies for the canned but it's a smaller part of his diet. He used to like meow mix canned when he was younger.

Re: "Sic" Emu

[quote="pat"] what type of pellets do you give your goats? I am not saying food is the issue from your emu's death. but, sounds like some of the food you were giving him is not good for an emu. /quote] I don't know anything about what emus need but that's a good point. Goat food is high in...

Jake also dislikes any pate cat food. He likes his food small pieces and with lots of gravy.

Re: Intact prairie dog

It sounds like he may be over weight. The extra fat can hide the genitals and make it messy around there as well. Being on an unhealthy food will for sure make an animal smell worse.

Re: Donnie

Kidney and liver issues are very common in older foxes and older animals in general so there is fairly high likelihood that it's at least part of his issues but it's not a sure thing without a blood test. If you're going to get the phosphorus binder from the vet then you can ask for some denamarin a...

Re: Donnie

This one is the Aluminum Hydroxide which is what the vet prescribed before. https://amzn.to/2H9yI7i

It binds to the phosphorus so the kidneys don't have to work as hard.

Re: Rash on face

Neem oil is made from the neem tree. It's great for most any skin condition, but it does stink. It has anti bacterial, anti viral, anti fungal properties and can even work for mites. We used it when my dad made pet spray since it helps with fleas some so have a bunch of it. https://draxe.com/neem-oil/

Re: Donnie

When they have kidney or/and liver problems they will go up and down like that. There are some things that can be done to extend life by making them more comfortable, like phosphorus binders on the food if it's kidneys and denamarin for liver. The vet would normally prescribe them after a blood test...

Re: Rash on face

Being itchy helps rule out some things that can be mistaken for rash but technically aren't so wanted to be sure. When I first got Pua she gave me a nasty rash between my legs because that's where she liked to sleep. I do have a contact allergy to them which is more mild now from exposure but she ma...
