Re: New to Raccoon life..took in an adult

Maybe try at least a quality grain free kibble so it would be similar but not as bad for him.

You could try using some honey on the good food items to try and entice him then if he goes for that slowly eliminate the honey.

Deffinition of Emotional Support Animals will be changed

The Transportation Department hosted seven months of negotiations in 2016 [...] the panel of airline and advocacy experts was unable to reach a consensus on narrowing the definition of what qualifies as a comfort animal. The department set a goal of proposing a regulation by July 2017, but missed t...

Re: White Tigers

There was some inbreeding at first as there is for any new breed or colormorph but that is long past. Inbreeding in animals is different from humans and are not prone at the same dramatic effects, unless done excessively and when done excessively the biggest effect is infertility. Careful line breed...

Re: Vaccination for Leopards

Unfortunately I don't think we have any active big cat owners unless they are lurking. Would probably go with the tiger protocol baring finding something specific to Leopards http://www.aazv.org/?273

Welcome to the forum B.Rock. If you'd care to participate skunk talk is in the little critters forum due to not having a whole lot of skunk owners but we'd love to have more viewforum.php?f=18

Re: Won’t use litter box

Could you get like a shallow tray like a kennel tray that you could put the pee pad on that could be slipped in and out under the edge or something, or make a place for it to slide through. Then the care taker could still change it without entering.

Re: "Best" state?

Oh I see you said USDA exemption is okay. Oregon is good then. Wild canines, felines, primates and crocidilians are banned but USDA exempts you from the ban. Otherwise other exotic stuff falls to the invasive(prohibited)/allowed list and if not listed is treated as prohibited. But they do give prohi...

Re: Fox Dog Project

Would need to breed for narrower muzzled and smaller noses too. The wider muzzle and larger nose is one of the big give aways to the fox-ish colored dogs being dogs.

Re: Hutia

Babies http://www.zooborns.com/zooborns/2015/09/three-cuban-hutias-born-at-naturzoo-rheine.html and it says a permit is needed to hunt them but that means it would be possible to get a permit so maybe also possible to get an export permit to the US. So there's hope. Now someone with the means needs ...

Re: Nutria legalities

Sorry I was talking about Oregon, not Florida, technically you can get a permit for the prohibited species, in Oregon, but they make it hard to get so not worth it to the average person just wanting a house pet but technically you could have it as a pet(noncommercial reason), but locked up, etc isn'...

Re: Nutria legalities

It varies by state. In Oregon you'd need the prohibited species permit but you need that for a lot of things, so essentially banned unless you have the funds to make a facility to their standards to prevent escape etc. But they aren't invasive in all states and some have no laws about them.

Re: Poseidon - The Dubia Roach

Thank you. He is calmer than most males so that's good. I get them crawling on my hands all the time when I sort through them for feeding. Their spikey legs do feel weird. I did freak out a bit when Ikigai threw one on my face one night but mainly because in my sleepy state I thought it was a big sp...

Poseidon - The Dubia Roach

Just before his final shed. He spent a week or more sitting on top of their orange peel house. I dipped water on him now and then to help in case he was trying to shed. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4696/25806135388_f1854b8840.jpg Poseidon by TamanduaGirl , on Flickr And he did molt out with a mang...

Re: "Best" state?

Missouri is pretty good you just have to register big cats, not get a permit or anything like that but the county and cities may require more.

Native foxes do need a permit and can't be kept in the house but exotic foxes don't require anything.
