Re: Snow leopard domestication project

I might be able to, but it would have to be worth it. Travel and rent are very high for an internship in the US, and hands-off internships would only get me so far. For internships, there also isn't any real difference between big accredited zoos and small private ones. Before I secured my internshi...

Re: Snow leopard domestication project

I've been working on it the entire time. The biggest thing that happened is that I split the project up. So now, the idea of having snow leopards privately in general is separate from my plans to keep and breed them. For part 1 (promoting private snow leopards), I've been looking for existing exotic...

Re: Which Nordic country you think is the most exotic friendly?

Regarding Switzerland: The "list" you posted isn't a ban list. It's a list distributed by a Swiss "animal protection organization" of animals that according to them, don't make suitable (house) pets and shouldn't be advertised in classifieds. You do need a permit for some animals...

New "beginner's" educational and mentoring group for exotic cats

Hi everyone, some of you might remember that I founded an advanced, secure Facebook group for exotic cats a while ago. It developed quite well, and we even had classifieds for big cats, as well as rare species like ocelots and Pallas cats (they came from Europe, so CWSA and ESA don't apply). Still, ...

Re: exoticcatz.com seems to be online again

I actually mean the exoticcatz.com forums. I couldn't access my real area of interest there yet (the big cat subforum), but the forum parts that were accessible to me didn't seem to have much high-level content.

Re: exoticcatz.com seems to be online again

I certainly look forward to any updates to the articles there. They seem to be much better than the forums. I've browsed through the topics that I could access without being logged in, and for the most part they seem to be on the lower-level end of the spectrum (although they are very comprehensive)...

exoticcatz.com seems to be online again

Hi everyone, recently, I stumbled upon exoticcatz.com in the Google search, and it seems to be back. There don't seem,to be any updates happened to the site or forum, and when I tried to register an account, the system said that it would need manual approval, which I still didn't receive. But apart ...

New group for exotic feline husbandry and trade

Here is a new group about exotic felids (all animals of the Felidae family except for domestic cats and their hybrids). You can discuss everything related to ownership/husbandry in this group, as well as trade animals or look for contacts. The group is international and open to members from all over...

Re: New group for exotic feline husbandry and trade

Thanks for the compliments! Can I cross-post it into the other relevant sub-forums (large and small cats), so that people looking for cat info will see the group as well?

Re: New group for exotic feline husbandry and trade

The group has A LOT of cat owners already, and we have quite a few big cat for sale ads as well (along with some hyena ads, LOL). The co-founder (who keeps a nice collection of big and small cats himself) invited lots of "high-caliber" owners and breeders. The member count might look small...

Re: Snow leopard domestication project

UPDATE: I've made a very significant progress on this project with 2 things: - I now have completed the full general concept (more than 20 pages long) for it. Unlike the website, you can read it from end to end and get a good idea of what my project is about and how I plan to implement it. You can f...

Re: Snow leopard domestication project

I know what you mean. Unfortunately, the concept of my project and my personal situation do not lend themselves well to constructing a generic private zoo. Currently, I am working on a pretty long concept that will describe in detail how and why breeding large cats for private ownership can benefit ...

Re: Snow leopard domestication project

I wouldn't view it in such a pessimistic way. Generally, if you have a larger facility, CBW and other permits and need the snow leopards for a purpose other than domestication, you can get them in the US. I saw several film animal trainers who have them, and also some breeding centers, from small to...
