Re: Enclosures

She's not too young to be outside yet; foxes of her age live outside full time after all. Just be sure to spend as much time with her as you can when you're home, and she should stay bonded to you. In my experience, red foxes tend to behave better once they're outside in their own enclosure where th...

Re: USDA Code Appears to Conflict with Federal Mandate

That makes more sense now; I wish they simplified their code to make it easier to understand.

Re: Pa laws

Just move to a town in Ohio that borders PA instead. Get all the perks of Ohio's wonderful licensing system for having foxes (buy the fox first, show the game warden the receipt, & receive the permit) while also being near PA & not having to deal with the PA Game Commission. It's a win/win s...

Re: USDA Code Appears to Conflict with Federal Mandate

My problem is with their classification of foxes. In this publication, the USDA appears to classify them as "wild animals" regardless of their use (fur breeder, pet, etc.). Or would they fall under the exemption that Juska mentioned (animals solely used for meat or fur)? It just seems like...

USDA Code Appears to Conflict with Federal Mandate

I've been reading into the various laws that govern "exotics," and I came across an old agriculture law that seems to negate the USDA's authority over some "exotics" in some cases. By the looks of it, one could sell certain "exotics" without the USDA license under certa...

Re: Aren't Fur Farm Purchases Illegal?

Fur prices are on the rise again, but the average red fox pelt of any color still isn't bringing a ton of money (less than pet/breeder price). The fur farms would rather sell her the extra & defective kits in order to make a decent profit on them instead of having to euthanize them or raise them...

Re: My Fox Is A Bully

I would keep them as male/female pairs with the remaining foxes being kept singly just to be safe. Keep in mind that foxes aren't very social animals in nature; they tend to stay in mated pairs. However, sometimes they will live in a group consisting of a mated pair & their female offspring that...

Re: Morph ID Please

Her eyes are pale blue by the way; they look just like the eyes of the lynxpoint snow Snow-Bob cat I have. Her paw pads & nose are still pink as well. I'll get the pictures of her eyes, paw pads, & nose uploaded when I get a chance.

Re: Morph ID Please

I'd rule out amber considering that true ambers (burgundy pearl) don't have blue eyes to my understanding; from what I've read, they can have any other eye color with green eyes being the color their known for. I'd be willing to bet that the "ambers" with blue eyes are actually Colicott br...

Re: Morph ID Please

Here are some pictures of the mother. The father was sold before the kits were born, but the breeder is trying to buy him back. Rose's Mother #1.jpg Rose's Mother #2.jpg Here are some of her siblings. The one in the middle of the picture was the darker of the two kits I posted earlier; she looks mor...

Re: Morph ID Please

Well I have two updates on the little fella after bath time today: 1.) "She" is a he. Not sure how the breeder & I missed that, but it is what it is especially since very few breeders knowingly sell male champagnes. 2.) He is showing a decent amount of red now, and the cross look is be...

Re: Morph ID Please

Sounds good to me, Ash. I'll see if I can swing it this upcoming pay. icon-smile Also, I just noticed that she's got the darker cross on her back, so maybe she's even a champagne or lavender cross! I'm still waiting to hear back from the breeder on the parents, so I'll report back on them when I hav...

Re: Morph ID Please

By the way, she is definitely lighter now than she was in that picture I was sent before I got her.

Ash, do you have a link to where I can buy the morph book? I'd like to get a copy to keep on-hand.

Here's the picture of her that I was sent before I went to get her. f2.jpg Here's a picture of her sister. f3.jpg She's from David Keener. I don't know of many others that have bought from him, but his kits have always been healthy & well-behaved for myself & anyone else that's gotten one fr...
