Re: Hello everyone!

Nebraska allows red and gray foxes with a $33 Captive Wildlife Permit. No fennecs, though. http://outdoornebraska.gov/captivewildlife/ For IT careers, we have Facebook, PayPal, and Google datacenters in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area. I've been contacted by Google and Facebook about positions, but co...

Re: what is the easiest exotic cat to own?

Even "domestic" cats can do a lot of damage if handled improperly and/or unsocialized. Wild animals don't "turn on" people, they simply act like the wild animals they are. You can never, ever forget to respect the animal, and never, ever forget that their reflexes and reactions a...

Re: BOBCATS. To declaw or not to declaw, that is the question

Based on my three-plus years of daily hands-on experience with wildlife-rehab bobcats, do not declaw. The only time Scully ever snagged me with a claw in over three years was as a kitten, when she jumped up on my shoulder and I didn't see her coming. She slipped and reflexively saved herself from fa...

Re: Dew Claws

If they're not seeing dewclaw injuries they're not examining coursing/racing/hunting Greyhounds. While running an adoption program I fostered and placed over 400 dogs, almost all of whom had raced or been in race training. Broken, torn, and fractured dewclaws were common, along with plenty of other ...

Re: I might get another fox and question

My rats were so big only one fit in the trap at a time. They did get smaller as the population decreased, but I never found more than one at a time. I think once it has a dead rat lying across the electrode surfaces the trap has to be emptied before it will fire again. Adult chickens wouldn't fit th...

Re: I might get another fox and question

When I last had a rat problem, I got one of these: http://www.victorpest.com/victor-electronic-rat-trap-bm240 It reliably killed three rats a day. I'd set it in the morning and when I got home from work I had a dead rat. I'd reset it, check it before going to bed, and had rat #2. Reset again, and wh...

Re: Chicks

Have you ever tried RodentPro? Their shipping is a flat $29 per box no matter where you are. I've never ordered their chicks but I used to get rats from them before we released Mulder and Scully decided she was too good to eat whole prey anymore.

Re: What kind of animals do you own?

Three dogs, two Greyhounds and one fuzzball. Five horses, four Thoroughbreds and one Appendix Quarter who fortunately takes after the TB side of the family. One bobcat, who technically "belongs to" the wildlife rehab group, but she might as well be mine since I've exclusively taken care of...

Re: could this be distemper?

Some resources I've found to be invaluable over 30+ years of treating "incurable" conditions successfully, with or without vets' participation: "Keep Your Pet Healthy The Natural Way" by Pat Lazarus, the 1986 edition only, the newer ones are useless "The Complete Herbal Hand...

Re: bars over windows?

My windows were already covered with this style of guard on the outside when I bought my property: http://www.globalindustrial.com/p/storage/wire-mesh-partitions/securitywindows/security-wire-mesh-window-guard-hinged-3-x-4 It had been a school and they were to prevent thrown or hit balls from breaki...

Insufficient Permissions?

Is anyone else getting "You do not have the required permissions to read topics within this forum" when they try to read the Laws & LEGAL ISSUES section?
