Re: Fox safe medications?

Well I'm careful how I word things so I don't get myself in trouble haha. I couldn't get him into the vet right away and I knew he was in pain. He had a large hematoma on his ear which I have dealt with multiple times with animals of all shapes and sizes. After 2 days of draining it he did not seem ...

Re: Fox safe medications?

I ended up having to take him in for emergency surgery and they gave him tramadol and metacam for pain instead. Bpx is also safe for foxes though.

Re: Fox safe medications?

Thanks for the prompt response Mary. From what I have heard and read- it is safe but I just wanted opinions and/or experience before I gave it to my sweet boy.

Re: Help with new kits

The gene pool thing is not my Forte, so I get a tad lost there. I'm assuming that you are talking about little 'smokey'. The darker babe. HE is who we are keeping:) the little one that ended up passing a day after birth was also was like him. It was kinda ironic- Arabella gave birth to two all white...

Re: Help with new kits

Actually I had a change of plans. Mom wasn't producing enough milk for all of them and naturally the 3 biggest ones were taking it all. I could not get the 2 small ones to suckle on a bottle so to make things easier I pulled the 3 big ones and supplement fed them, when they hit 10 days old (April 23...

Re: Ohio- permits and all that good stuff. Marble

And just to be fair- it's MY responsibility to look into all this, not the breeder I got my foxes from. He was a really nice guy and answered all the questions I had but just wasn't really informative about my questions on legally owning one. I do not want to come off like im slandering him. Any neg...

Re: Ohio- permits and all that good stuff. Marble

And I just clicked on that link that was attached- this is what upsets me even more...when making sure I was 'legal' I seen this form and called district 3 where I live and asked questions and was about to fill the form out and send it in when I was told I don't need the permit. Oh my gosh.

Re: Ohio- permits and all that good stuff. Marble

Minervasden And when I called the county I did check into all foxes- red, grey, silver, cross, marble, etc. Marbles are good in Wayne County. I live in the country so my foxes really don't bother anyone. Any other loop holes that I'm not aware of? I'm so scared to fill out the state papers now, how ...

Re: Ohio- permits and all that good stuff. Marble

Yes the babies legally have to be free, I do know that. My male will be getting fixed!!!! I did absolutely love the experience and there is nothing more precious than a kit but the breeding thing isn't for me. Everyone wants a fox to change instinct instead of changing their lives for their fox. Tha...

Ohio- permits and all that good stuff. Marble

I'm so confused on this permit stuff right now. So I got my marbles from licenced breeders and did all the right things to make sure I can legally own them where I live. In Wayne County (where I live) I do NOT need a permit to own, breed, or sell marble foxes. By law I do need to be usda certified t...

Re: Help with new kits

I'm glad you think so bc that's what I was thinking of doing. I'm going to bring them in, the last thing I want to do is be in there too much and have her get stressed. She has been great so far but I don't want to push it. I can better monitor the two small ones inside to ensure they are eating and...
