Re: Interesting info re: Taurine and diet

I would not trust any dog kibble on the market, not with all the recalls they get.

I think the best thing for raw-fed diet is to raise the chickens yourself and feed the whole bird to the animal, or buy a one for a local farmer (have them kill it) and fed it as is.

Re: Pork and Beef

I personally think the main reason people say not to feed beef and pork is because it's not something a fox naturally hunts in the wild.

If you trust the source of meat, I think it would be okay to feed it to your fox.

Re: Looking for a silver fox in east TN

Frazier Farms Exotics is in Bybee, TN, but if I read their post correctly, they have no more red-type foxes for sale this year.

@TamanduaGirl and Ash

Thank you for the input, now I have another thing to add into the research pile. Need to find a good harness and muzzle for my future arctic (whenever that happens)

Re: question about harnesses & muzzles

How long do they recommend to keep the harness and muzzle on?

Re: question about harnesses & muzzles

@Ash, thank you for explaining it.

You mention the muzzle and the vet. Do vets require the pet foxes to be muzzled, or is it related to the BS about how rabies vaccine don't "work" on foxes, and the vet will kill the fox if it bites anyone on the facility?

question about harnesses & muzzles

So, on the FaceBook groups for fox owners, people are showing off imagine of their new fox kits. Many of the photos, I'm seeing the kits in a harness with no muzzle, and some have a muzzle on. By putting them on a kit, is this training the kit to get used to the harness and muzzle at an early age? Y...

Re: Should you breed your fox?

A question that I'm not sure can be answered, but For breeders like Tiny Tack (or anyone else that's been around for a while), how long do you think they bred until they knew the kits wouldn't have a genetic defect and safe for the pet market? Or can a defect happen even if the kit came from two hea...

If you are in fact going to move into your own place, then wait to get a fox next year.

Oh wow, I didn't realize how hard a breeder's job was. Thank you for the insight on that aspect, TamanduaGirl.

Re: smoked bones, are they bad?

Though, I am curious about the raw bones with the filling.

The bones look unnaturally white, so I wonder what they do to the bones to makes them so clean.

@TamanduaGirl thank you for passing on the breeder information to me. Are litter deaths common among fox breeders? From searching the forum, I've only seen you mention the difficulties breeders have with fennec foxes.

Re: smoked bones, are they bad?

@DeweysMom Thank you for your very detailed insight.

I did some searching and it seemed like a 50/50 split on the topic. Some thought the smoked or roasted bones you can buy from pet stores were okay to give to your pet, while other did not.
