Re: Pua has passed on

This is heartbreaking. I'm awfully sorry.
12 years is certainly quite a long time. You must've taken great care of her. She was lucky to have you.

Re: BOBCATS. To declaw or not to declaw, that is the question

As someone who has been raised around cats, declawing was something I'd hear about a lot. Like everyone else here, I would not recommend it. I actually stand strongly against it. No cats I have been around were declawed, so I cannot compare the behavior of a declawed cat to a clawed cat, let alone w...

Re: Sooty Owls

I can tell they're dangerous just by looking at them! They certainly wouldn't be my first owl, if I do ever get an owl (though I'd still love to own one).

Thank you for the video! It was very interesting (and the barn owl was adorable, of course). I'll likely be watching more of their videos.

Re: Sooty Owls

Not sure if I'll ever really get an owl, I'm still looking into it, but thank you for that info! Other than the Tyto genus, my favorite owl is the Eurasian eagle-owl. The white-faced owls are a close second, though. I have no idea if owls are legal here in Louisiana, but I won't be staying here. Hop...

Re: Sooty Owls

I see that the greater sooty owl is also native to New Guinea. Are there any restrictions on exports there?

Sooty Owls

So, after seeing the post on pet owls, I'm curious. How common are they in captivity? I know they are in some zoos, but are any kept privately? I'm assuming they are quite rare, mainly because they are native to Australia. They are absolutely stunning though.

Re: PET OWL CARE

Oh wow, I thought all raptors needed special permits to be kept. I've been interested in owls myself lately. I adore the sooty owls, but I am sure those would be hard to come by.

Re: Czech Republic

Welp... that sucks. I was hoping that there was some exceptions, but apparently not. They only list the South American coati, and not the white-nosed, but I'm sure that'll change. I foresee skunks being added, too.

Czech Republic

So I was looking around for information on exotics in the Czech Republic and I came across this site. I have been checking up on it every once in a while for a few months. I've seen mambas, cobras, vipers, large snakes, crocodilians, corvids, porcupines, skunks, marmots, wallabies, a giant cloud rat...

Re: Why do people hate exotic pets so much?

I used to be very AR-minded, so I actually understand how anti-exotic people feel. I was once very anti-zoo/hunting/marine parks/breeding/etc. So off of what I felt during my delusional anti-captivity phase, I believed that animals should be free. I believed that animals that couldn't be released sh...

Sad. They seem like such great animals. Maybe one day if I am feeling bold enough and can afford it I may attempt getting a pair.

Spotted Cuscus

So a few months ago I learned about the cuscus and when searching about them as pets, I found this . I am definitely in love with these little guys! They are so cute, and their fur is just stunning and looks so puffy. Just from seeing the video, they look like they'd be an awesome pet. However, othe...

Re: CITES confuses me

That's why I never understood the "there are more tigers in private homes than in the wild!" argument.... Isn't that sorta good? That means that although they are dying out in the wild, we won't have to worry about them going completely extinct. We need to protect endangered species but th...

Re: Which Nordic country you think is the most exotic friendly?

That's great to hear! I'll definitely be looking into Switzerland again. Thanks guys! Thought I was only restricted to Ireland and UK if I wanted to live in Europe. Good to know there are still more options.
