Available Viverrids?

I absolutely adore viverrids and I hope to have some in the future, but my options are quite limited due to the importation ban. I'm wondering what species are available in the US. There's plenty of genets and I've seen a few binturongs for sale but nothing else. Are there Asian palm civets?

Re: Considering a parrot...

I found some pearly conures for sale (they're really rare) but they are in Michigan. I hope they ship.
I'm probably going to have to wait till December to finally get a bird anyway though.

Re: Considering a parrot...

I've narrowed down my options to the following: Cockatiel Lovebird Parrotlet Pyrrhura Poicephalus Pionus Small parakeet (Budgie, Bourke's, and Barred) I'm strongly leaning towards the pionus since they are on the larger side (but not TOO large) but also generally quiet, whereas most larger birds are...

Re: Considering a parrot...

Kinda worried about the noise level of lories. As much as I want a black lory I think I'll wait on that and get something quieter, like a black-capped conure.

Re: Considering a parrot...

Oooooh I see someone who'll be having some black lories available soon. Super tempting. And I looked into the lorikeets and their noise level, and it seems they can be screechy and very loud when they want to (esp. if they don't get enough attention) but are generally on the quieter side. I'll defin...

Re: Considering a parrot...

Money isn't a huge issue, but there is a limit. I was looking into hawk-headed parrots but quickly stopped as they can go for over 2k. Toucanets and aracaris certainly exceed the limit as well. Would absolutely love a collared aracari though. Stunning and unique animals. Aren't lories/lorikeets quit...

Considering a parrot...

Considering! I told myself not to get anymore pets right now, but at the same time I want a social and interactive pet. My mental health has kinda declined over the past couple years with lots of isolation, so I really want an animal that is more of a friend and will provide some moral support, unli...

Oh, I love this breed!
Another ridgeback breed is the lovely phu quoc ridgeback, but this one is quite unique compared to the others.

Re: Sled Dogs :)

It's usually best to get one dog at a time so you can put all your focus on raising the one, but if you feel like you can handle two then you can go for it. My sister raised two pups at once (though I don't think she did the best job). Huskies and samoyeds are typically very dog-friendly, so if you ...

Re: Contemplating Ori's color - Tamandua Colors

Hmmm well maybe one day a lucy will appear? Either way the albinos are really cool too.

Only some leucistic animals have blue eyes. Others have dark eyes, so who knows. So possibly even if there was a lucy it may have dark eyes anyway.

Really interesting creatures, though!

Re: UGH - Smooshed faced chihuahuas

That's interesting, considering that my parents got a Yorkshire terrier (that's still currently alive, just in the hands of one of my mother's friends) back in 2010. She's doing just fine! She's perfectly healthy, actually. My dad had a purebred rottweiler and a Samoyed back in the day, and claims h...

Re: Contemplating Ori's color - Tamandua Colors

I'm typically not a fan of albinos either (unless we are talking bell or rainwater albino leopard geckos), but after doing a quick search, I saw two photos and they really are pretty! They are like a sherbet orange color. The melanistic tamanduas look really cool too. Do you know if there are any le...

I'm sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is never easy, but she certainly lived a long and happy life with you.

I'm sure Donnie will be okay! He'll get better with time, and you'll have each other to get through it.

Re: Czech Republic

Onyx, have you seen that private individuals for sure can keep large carnivores? Or do you need something like a USDA permit, or zoo permit? I'm planning on moving to Ireland but keeping my options open, and I want to have the chance to keep wolves, striped hyenas and African wild dogs. I'm not rea...
