Thanks for that - I did wait a little longer and I now have Rolo, a grey baby. :bear Unfortunately the other chick didnt make it out of the egg - I opened it and it had absorbed the yolk sac but did not have a healed navel - what do you think is the cause of this? Just an update..... I managed to find an incubator big enough, but not too pricey, to hold 9 rhea eggs. I set 7 eggs - after candling only 2 well fertile. Its now day 37 and still no signs of hatching. I keep holding the eggs next to my ear but hear nothing - do you think there is still hope? I read...

I would really ideally like to hatch them but struggling on which incubator is suitable - what do you guys use? I am only thinking about 3 or 4 eggs so not needing a MASSIVE bator.

WOOOHOOOOOOOO first egg laid by Rio yesterday - similar size to goose egg but yellow!! :lol: So this now answers the question.

Chance - very interesting to read about genes - I prefer grey rheas.......whites TOOOO nasty!!

Well I use about 25ml per litre of water but this is the dosage I was told for chickens. I suppose this strength could be a little stronger for emus/rheas.

Hi guys - hope you are all well. Well thought I would update you with whats been happening on the rhea front. Ralph the white rhea, is definitely male - he is very aggressive now and booms all the time...I am covered in bite marks!! :lol: Anyway I still am not sure about Rio as he/she is not aggress...
