Re: Aggressive coon, need help!

My "angels'" nickname is heathen devil monster child. And she earned it as a terrible 1 & 2 yr old. You want your baby to be able to be "caged" quietly so you can get him to the vet when necessary. I didn't and my vet gets real snarky about me holding them on my lap at visits...

Re: Greetings from Belgium

Arakun Welcome, its so good to hear from a "newbie" that realizes the responsibilities involved in being owned by a coon...or two.

Re: Vega Thread (Pics, Updates, etc.)

Unless coatis are know to be especially apt to have problems with salmonella, I wouldn't worry about it too much. As long as you keep him healthy, he is as likely to catch something from you as you are from him. He sounds like a good boy. My coons like to stick their noses up my nose too. I think he...

Re: Question about raccoons and raisins

Mine really love raisins and grapes( as long as i cut them in half). Peanut butter is also well loved, mine eat it off a s...

Re: Starting from scratch

As you spend more time with him, you will get to recognize his vocalizations. Every coon is different. My Chloe greets me with growls that if I didn't know her would be very intimidating. When Scooter has lost track of Chloe, he walks around crying until he finds her. When Scooter is trying to get L...

Re: Starting from scratch

I hadn't seen the first of your links, when I have time I'm going through it. Thanks for the info. For pet coon info I always suggest the Remo raccoon site, it a fun read and full of information. http://remocoon.mnsi.net/

Re: Starting from scratch

I am tech illiterate but Pat has a great setup and if you look around here she has posted pics, Ana as well and a few others. The best setups I've seen have access from the house to an outside pen, mine visit but don't spend much time in the outside pen.Probably because for the first 5 or 6 years Ch...

Re: Starting from scratch

If you aren't going to be able to keep him, please do as Dewey's mom says. But if you can, then go for it. Spend as much time with him as possible, get him wormed for sure and vaccinated at least against distemper & whatever it takes to make him legal. As long as he's never loose outside, rabies ...

Re: Water Ideas For Issac the Coonie

I also keep a big bowl of water in my bathtub, its a lot easier to clean up. They have a dog water dish on my night table. Coons like to play in water and the dish on my night stand is more convenient for them to dunk their treasures in but at least that gives me a first place to look for missing ite...

Re: Need advise, female with dark urine.

Urine color could also be affected by what she's eating, but it could be a health problem. If you find out, please let us know. Chloe has been especially lovey this last week or so. She's spayed but her "moods" like this I've always assumed were a hormone thing.

Re: Raccoons and Seafood?

In my experience feeding a particular food doesn't effect aggression.. On the other hand trying to remove a particular food from them might. Chloe gets real possessive of her treats.

Re: I just wantl to complain

That's an interesting doghouse. Hope they use it. Its weird but neither Chloe or Scooter allow anything on top of their bookcase or closets. I've thought about putting a wooden box with blankets up there, but I'm afraid of what they would damage throwing it down.
