Re: Biting

I'm glad to be of some help. The no rough playing is something that is so obvious to an experienced pet owner that it often isn't even considered.

Re: Biting

Is he fixed?+ The biting isn't usually a problem, they grow out of it, but the out of nowhere biting at your face is a problem. If he isn't fixed, I would try that. "Normal" baby biting is usually as a play to rough deal, solved by correcting repeatedly and never playing rough, but the out...

Re: Poll - Just for us raccoon parents

I would have said they are ambidextrous, but I'll watch and pay attention for a few days and see.

Re: Raccoon Cough?

She may have just swallowed wrong. My Chloe does that infrequently. But the first thing I think of is internal parasites.

Re: Sleeping in cage

The last time Chloe was at the vets she climbed inside my t shirt. A 35lb coon doesn't fit too well, leaving her butt hanging out, which is how she got her shot. Be grateful its a blanket he's hiding under. I've not found a harness that mine couldn't get out of, a collar might work but please don't ...

Re: Sleeping in cage

Treating your coon like a puppy, especially if you have a real puppy has always worked really well for me. With the exception of - don't let him outside, its dangerous for him. The 12am "get up I want to play" can be very disruptive to your sleep, but if you put him off your bed when this ...

Re: Wild Baby Found

How long has she been dumpy? Babies have their up and down but usually a "not interested" feed is followed by a "i'm starving" feed. If you need to stimulate her to go, use either a very wet cloth or Mary's warm trickle, and rather than rub, set the cloth on her genitals and squee...

Re: Getting Baby Coon

More important that whether or not a coon is legal where you live, is what the attitude of people is where you live and if you can find a vet. If you are in a rural or farming community, its very likely that people won't have a problem with your pets as long as they aren't a nuisance. For the most p...

Re: 10 wk old had 1st seizure

Try kmr until the order comes. At 10 weeks he's old enough for his distemper shots, I would have a vet do the first series if possible. For a house coon distemper is more a danger than other diseases, especially if you have cats or dogs. While at the vet have him tested for parasites.

Re: Diahrea issues

I would give it a day or two and see if the diarrhea issues solve themselves. I would just give the kmr until she's eating well. What's her name? On a baby that age, I would have a fecal sample done before I wormed her and its more than worthwhile to have one done when she's older to make sure she d...

Re: Introducing new raccoon

Thank you for clarifying. I was worried. I would start right now, holding baby while interacting with the older coon. That will protect her from him and vice versa. All coons are different, but your older one probably never had babies of her own so probably doesn't know how to interact with the new ...

Re: Introducing new raccoon

A 3 week old shouldn't be in an enclosure at all. This is the time for him to bond to you & your family. He also still needs his bottle every several hours.
