I've always bought glass bottles for my pets. I had one for each of my hamsters (one was male and the other was female, couldn't keep them in the same cage), and now I have one large one for my rats. They've never failed me, and for the four years my hamsters lived I only bought those two bottles.

A pure-bred German Shepherd that goes to a pound will usually be adopted right away. I hate to put it that way but most pure-breeds get adopted quickly, especially if they're younger.

She looks like a rare color for a feeder rat...most feeders I see are either black or white, they aren't bred for color or tameness so I guess your rat's family must have been a mix of pet rats and feeders at one point, or the store you got them from doesn't sell them as food or pets separately. The...

I like silvers the best as far as color, though I've only met a red fox in real life. I think silvers have a sort-of otherworldly look to them, with their bright eyes and dark fur. I also find the color contrast of the white guard hairs on black intriguing. Platinums (or tuxedos as I first learned o...

I didn't say anything about it being okay to hunt them for sport because they're high in population, nor about the profit some people make by trapping them. I'm done talking about this. We have different opinions, and that's not going to change. I like animal pelts and bones, and that doesn't make m...

There's only so much authorities and restoration programs can do to prevent people from illegally hunting animals. And like foxalbiazul said, other types of foxes aren't going to go extinct with the populations as high as they are, such as reds, so hunting them for population control isn't going to ...

Not always. Take coyotes for example. My mom knows a man and his wife, I don't know the name of the tribe and I don't personally know them, but he has a coyote pelt that he purchased from a trader specifically for Pow-Wows. My mom took pictures for his wedding (she was asked to attend the ceremony a...

The way I see it, there's no possible way to kill anything "humanely", because you're still killing it, but it needs to happen sometimes...that goes for people too. It's nature, and everything is going to die one way or another. A fox will eventually die from old age, but nature usually ha...

I don't condone the roundups because of the way they're handled, as some have said already. I also can't eat some meats because my digestive system is sensitive/weak to some foods, but I love me some turkey and chicken! My boyfriend is a vegan because he thinks the way most meat is processed is disg...

Mine isn't a swift fox, but I understand what you mean. But like deer, foxes that become overpopulated in the wild will overfeed on the local wildlife and some starve to death because of it; and others wander into urban areas and become nuisances to people (even though it's actually the people who a...

I'll sum up PETA in the terms that I've come to understand them. They want to abolish all animal/human interactions, including removing all pets from people's homes and ending the farming of animals. They employ celebrities to keep their appearances up, because they've run into so many problems in t...

I bought them online from a trading post website, so they come from all different places. It could have been trapped or died from natural causes, but I have no way of knowing or finding out. I do know it wasn't farmed, because it was commercially tanned and not garment tanned. Some sites do sell far...

I had the delight of holding my mom's friend's pet fox when I was about 4 or 5 (he was orphaned and adopted by that man, don't remember his name), but I don't particularly remember anything distinctive about how it felt. I do own a silver fox tail and face (don't get mad at me, please, I find taxide...

To my eyes, the coat color and somewhat wrinkled skin would suggest a shar-pei mix. That seems to be a kind-of common thing nowadays. I could be wrong though, just putting in my opinion! I got my girl Emo from the ASPCA, and it was $75 to adopt her. They gave me a free voucher to have her spayed, wh...

I was talking to a friend last night about hamsters, and she said that when she went to college and couldn't take them with her (her mom didn't want them), she donated them to the Petco near her, and that most stores will do that if you desperately need to place your animal(s). She said they (legall...
