Re: Red Giant Flying Squirrel

Cute! How cool. That would be awesome to keep as a pet. Though I think it would prefer an enclosure over a cage.

Re: Grey foxes - Hillview exotics

The fox's sleep pattern will change a little to accommodate yours, but don't expect it to be reversed completely. So the fox will still be active at night unless you actively try to wear it out during the daytime consistently. Then it will be tired enough to fall asleep at night. Your fox will have ...

Re: Grey foxes - Hillview exotics

Congratulations on putting down a deposit for a gray! I have reds, but I think I'd like a gray someday since they seem calmer. I think Hillview is a good choice. I agree with TG, invisible fence won't work. If anything, it would likely do the opposite--fox gets shocked, freaks out and runs away. So ...

Thank you for the info! And it's great to hear about an older fennec fox that's still "zippy" and healthy. Nice work.

Re: Where can I get a male raccoon fixed.

Hello, and welcome to the board. It will be difficult finding a vet to treat your raccoon since he is originally from the wild, so is illegal to own. That being said, the first thing you should do is get a furbearing license for him from the state DNR. It's only around $30, and you renew it annually...

Re: Nova the Blind Fox

What a nice story. It's amazing how well animals can adapt when they lose something essential, in this case, sight. Glad the little guy is doing well and things are good for him.

Re: Considering a parrot...

Glad you're narrowing down your choices. :) It can be hard to pinpoint exactly what you want sometimes. Especially when you need it to fit certain qualifications, like doesn't make much noise, etc. My mom keeps wanting me to get a parrotlet, lol. She thinks they're so cute but doesn't want to take c...

Re: Considering a parrot...

Conures are pretty birds. I had to look up the black-capped ones to see what they look like. I think they will make a good pet if that is what you do decide. :)

Sexing Monitors

I stumbled across this video, and it was VERY informative. So I wanted to put a link to it here for others to watch. Breeding monitor lizards in captivity: Part two - determining the sex of your monitor(s) "crocdoc2" Published on Apr 1, 2018 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTn7671oTTs&...

Teach her tricks. Border collies are highly trainable, and short sessions of trick-training will keep her more occupied.

That would be awesome if you could get some. I also like the dusky lories. Saw one at a zoo once.

Re: Considering a parrot...

In MY opinion, lorikeets weren't that screechy. There were 4-5 where I worked, and the weren't nearly as noisy as the macaw or cockatoo. That's just my experience with them though. Maybe they were an exception.
