Re: City laws

Sorry, I don't check my email very often, so that's probably why I didn't respond. Which cities are you looking at? I don't have a list of cities--at least not a complete one--but I can help if I know which cities you're looking at.

Re: Wolfdogs indoor or outdoor

I'd say it depends on the wolfdog's content. If it's a low or a mid, sure I think it could sleep inside. But if it's a higher mid to high content, it's closest to a wolf and would likely prefer to be in its own enclosure. I'm sure you can bring them indoors on occasion, just not a good idea to let t...

Hmm... I haven't noticed, but then again I haven't been following the kangaroo ads. If I see anything, I'll let you know.

Re: NC Importation Laws? Armadillo

Aw, that's too bad. :/ Hopefully one will come your way soon. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

It's really annoying when government workers don't even know their own laws. Or at least have the decency to look them up.

Re: yapok - Water possums

Cool. Sounds like a difficult little critter that needs a more zoological setup. That's neat he's working with them and so many other species.

Re: NC Importation Laws? Armadillo

Here are the general requirements for animal importation into NC: http://www.ncagr.gov/vet/NCGenIE.htm . Looks like only these animals and hoofstock/livestock require entry permits/health papers: (1) Skunk; (2) Fox; (3) Raccoon; (4) Ringtail; (5) Bobcat (includes Lynx and other North and South Ameri...

Re: yapok - Water possums

Interesting. Do you know what he actually feeds his? I imagine it would be difficult to maintain a diet of crustaceans, although the fish part would be easier. Like maybe he feeds them tilapia or something.

Re: question about harnesses & muzzles

I'd say that depends on the fox and how tolerant it is of them. Most foxes tolerate harnesses very well (aside from getting them put on), so can wear them for long periods of time to make things easy for the owner. As for the muzzle, I wouldn't put the muzzle on longer than necessary. Just enough ti...

Re: question about harnesses & muzzles

You're welcome. :) Yeah, depends on the vet. My vet required it in this case because Nova was not up-to-date on his vaccinations at the time of the visit, and if he bit someone, it would need to have been reported. If he had been up-to-date, it would have been okay. Supposedly he was also pretty wil...

Re: question about harnesses & muzzles

Yes, putting on a muzzle and harness when young would definitely help get them used to it. For most foxes though the hard part is getting the harness put on, not so much the actually having it on them. Although it makes it more convenient for teaching them about leashes to already have the animal ha...

Re: Should you breed your fox?

Well said. Too many people are breeding vulpes vulpes right now. I've seen several large scale breeders STILL offering red kits for sale when they really should have all been spoken for by now. Arctic season is coming up, so it will be interesting (and probably sad) to see how many kits are left wit...

Re: Fox or dog

I definitely would not get a fox if you live in an apartment. Foxes will destroy the house and their pee will reek. It's one thing when it's your own house, it's another if it's someone else's. You would likely get evicted for having a fox and would wind up paying a lot of money in damages. I defini...

Re: Ripping Out Fur

Just wanted to give one last update!

Luna is fully healed with no scabs or anything. The fur is all starting to grow back in the area they shaved as well as where the scrape itself was. I'm glad she's made a full recovery. :)
