Re: Hi. I'm back. :)

I would love to hear about your foxes! I'm getting a red fox this coming spring, and love to hear all sorts of fox stories. Did you name your gray fox "Shawnee" after the Shawnee National Forest in Illinois, by chance? Just curious. My family owns some land down there and are there quite o...

Re: Getting a Hognose snake tomorrow!

Okay! Thanks for all the advice. Dragon finally ate last night and now he is all fat. He was the width of a pencil, but now he is seriously the width of a marker. I'll give him 24-48 hours to digest his food and then I can hold him and take pictures. I don't want to risk him throwing...

Puppy keeps having "concussions"!?

Okay, so as you guys know my family back home got a little shih-tzu puppy for Christmas--named Zip. He was examined by the vet after we got him as well as by my aunt who is a vet-tech and has bred and worked with dogs almost her whole life. Everything was perfectly fine. However, lately some odd stu...

I am sorry for your loss, but you did the right thing. It's hard to lose a pet that you love. I'm sure he is in a happy place now. Good luck.

Re: Red Fox and Arctic Fox Hybrid Pics

They're so interesting! I assume they probably don't all survive or they can't have babies, right? Otherwise would there be more of these guys? They're lovely.

Re: Getting a Hognose snake tomorrow!

Thanks, Minervasden for the help! He's a western hognose. His tank is 2'-1'-1'. He has hiding places where he can curl up (logs, and he loves going under his water dish thing). About a fourth of the tank (maybe a third) is heated, and the other part not so that he can go to whatever temperature he w...

I think this is great that you have another tamandua. And now you may soon have three. :) Are you still planning on getting Cinco? Or does it depend on if Aurora has her baby?

Re: Getting a Hognose snake tomorrow!

Hello! So in case you were wondering, I'm not seriously going to try feeding him candy corn! Haha... (The image in my mind makes it so tempting though!) But I got the little guy yesterday and he is SO adorable and beautiful. I tried to take some pictures of him today, but I broke my camera in the pr...

Re: Spraying?

Yeah--it really is their urine. Foxes don't smell bad to me at all--they just smell different. The only smell really is their urine--which is why it's good to try to control marking.

Re: Spraying?

Actually, they don't spray. They mark--which is a difference. Spraying I would never want to deal with, but marking is just urinating on things to claim it as their own. You can even startle them right before they do it and lots of times they'll stop. Male or female? I don't have a fox yet--I've wor...

Re: Getting a Hognose snake tomorrow!

Oh, and another question, this one kinda lame--but I'm curious...... Please don't think I'm a horrible, irresponsibe person for asking this question! Can you feed a snake candy corn? Will it hurt them? Is there anything bad in it that could hurt them? It's just sugar after all, and it's no where nea...

Getting a Hognose snake tomorrow!

I'm super excited. I've wanted a snake for a long time, but I kept telling myself "No, you're getting a fox. Not a snake." I'm still getting my fox, of course. icon_biggin.gif But now I finally decided that YES I definitely can handle a snake and YES I would definitely love a snake! I want...
