Re: Getting a Hognose snake tomorrow!

Hello! So in case you were wondering, I'm not seriously going to try feeding him candy corn! Haha... (The image in my mind makes it so tempting though!) But I got the little guy yesterday and he is SO adorable and beautiful. I tried to take some pictures of him today, but I broke my camera in the pr...

Re: Spraying?

Yeah--it really is their urine. Foxes don't smell bad to me at all--they just smell different. The only smell really is their urine--which is why it's good to try to control marking.

Re: Spraying?

Actually, they don't spray. They mark--which is a difference. Spraying I would never want to deal with, but marking is just urinating on things to claim it as their own. You can even startle them right before they do it and lots of times they'll stop. Male or female? I don't have a fox yet--I've wor...

Re: Getting a Hognose snake tomorrow!

Oh, and another question, this one kinda lame--but I'm curious...... Please don't think I'm a horrible, irresponsibe person for asking this question! Can you feed a snake candy corn? Will it hurt them? Is there anything bad in it that could hurt them? It's just sugar after all, and it's no where nea...

Getting a Hognose snake tomorrow!

I'm super excited. I've wanted a snake for a long time, but I kept telling myself "No, you're getting a fox. Not a snake." I'm still getting my fox, of course. icon_biggin.gif But now I finally decided that YES I definitely can handle a snake and YES I would definitely love a snake! I want...

Re: Do your foxes sleep on your bed?

Kibalover--really cool bed! Just had to say that! I should sleep in a box every night so my fox can't escape, lol! Kelsey--that's what I heard as well, but at the moment it sounds fun to have it "pounce" me awake. Of course, this is probably because I'm longing for a fox--so bad--, b...

Do your foxes sleep on your bed?

I would like to try to have my fox sleep on my bed. For certain breeds of dogs I heard that it makes them bond to you more since they feel more included in your "pack." I know foxes don't have pack mentalities, but they are canines, so I wondered if anyone has let their fox sleep with them...

Re: Smell?

I intern at a wildlife sanctuary and take care of two red foxes. They are kept outdoors in enclosures, and when outside you can't smell anything because of the breeze. However, since I clean their cages, I get the "opportunity" to be up close to their urine/feces. It does smell pretty bad-...

Re: Squirrels anyone?

Ah, okay. I'm glad that you were able to keep her. :) I like how she'll curl up in your hair! That's too cute. So it seems they're not super affectionate--they don't actually seek out human company, but they're not viscious and mean. Many online places would say that after a year old they would beco...

Re: Squirrels anyone?

Hi--I am still interested in squirrels and thanks for telling me it's okay to ask questions! Would you like to tell us about your squirrel (where you got him, his name, interesting stuff like that) as an introduction? I would love to hear some squirrel stories if you got them! From what I've been ab...

Re: Skunk vet ?

Are there any zoos nearby? You could call them and ask about their vets--their vets should be able to work with any type of animal--especially something as "simple" as a skunk.

Re: Shih Tzu Puppy for Christmas!

We actually took a video of it, so maybe I could somehow show it to you. It may be hard for people who are not in my family to tell that she's as excited as she is, and her reaction may seem rather "stoic," but it was a sure indication to my family that she was super duper excited. Thanks ...

Re: i might get a fox from tiny tracks

I like them--I'm getting my red fox from them this coming spring/summer. I understand why they euthanize their foxes, and I don't mind taxidermy. I feel much better about taxidermy than furcoats (though, I'm not against furs; I just wish foxes were raised differently at fur farms). Anyway, that's my...

Re: To save your pet or a stranger?

I would always save a human over an animal. I love animals to death, that's for sure, but I understand that there really is a difference between a human life and an animal life. Of course I love animals, and I will love my future fox more than almost anything--but a human life is much more valuable ...
