Re: Any body from Florida?

it really pisses me off when vets or dnr/GC seem to think a pet raccoon is the same as a wild raccoon  yes, I can understand where a wild raccoon can get rabies. but as Dana said, rabie cakes are dropped for the wild wild raccoons. that is how it in is in the state Dana and I live. there are o...

Re: Brevecto is NOT safe

I use to use revolution. that seemed to work. not very cheap though. however, ana came up with a good idea, buy one for large dogs, then measure enough for the the weight of the dog, raccoons or whatever. ana had a chart for the measurements I have a copy of it, if anyone would like to see it. but f...

Re: Brevecto is NOT safe

I did buy bravecto for my dogs, raccoons and fox a while back. did not give it to them, I just had a fear of using it. (even though, like you said, the vets sell it) I end up returning it. so glad I did. a friend of mine bought a flea treatment for his cat at "walmart" needless to s...

Re: Vegetarianism and Veganism

catlover, I am not going to condemn you of your food choices. to be honest, after seeing how some of these animals are kept for food makes me sick. if they were treated more humanely with the proper care of them. yes, I still buy meat. I feed my dogs chicken and rice. I fear the dog foods they have ...

Re: Do chuckwallas make good pets?

I currently have a chuckwalla right now and it’s safe to say that they do make great pets. Although when I first got it, it would try biting me. You just need to let it get comfortable around you and it’ll eventually let you pick it up. I feed him lettuce and flowers and many other things. I hope t...

Re: Food

Well, Yatzee was neutered and the vet said he was obese. He weight 16lbs. He gained 3lbs since last month. I don't get it. He doesn't get any junk food. The only option is to cut back his portions which is worrisome because he barely eats anything now. I even more worried with him being neutered no...

Re: Grapes

based on info from different breeders and research. grapes were OK. but, I understand it is best to be safe than sorry. I have spent a lot of time researching online last night. I did not see anything negative about grapes. Mary, just curious, (not doubting you at all) but, where did you find that t...

Re: Behavior Change in Neutered Raccoon

don't quite remember how mine were after being fixed. I never really had any aggression with mine.
however, your raccoon is probably a little sore. possibly a little sedated.

just don't "rough play" with him. there are other ways to play.

Re: Grapes

grapes are fine for raccoons. just not a lot of them. I give mine a couple a day along with their food. (cooked chicken with sweet potatoes, sugar free cereal, prunes (my oldest one love prunes) a few marrow bones for treats. there is more foods that are OK. I am sure the other members will chime in...

Re: Anyone else worried about the new findings on grain-free food??

we can't win on dog food companies. years ago, all was safe, I use to feed my dogs back then dry dog food. most lived to 13.(all was large dogs) I don't feed my dogs any dog food. they get chicken and sweet potatoes. a few snacks. for my raccoons, they get cooked chicken, with sweet potatoes. a few ...

his diet sounds good.
I have heard of a raccoons testicle not dropping before. with hope, maybe your raccoon's other one will drop
otherwise like you said the vet will have to do more in depth surgery icon-sad

Re: Food

I have offered Yatzee a huge menu of food. From roaches, small rats, fish, chicken, shrimp, fruits and vegetables. He likes his grain free dog food and a select few of fruit. Is it bad to keep him on an all grain free dog food diet? thats odd, usually raccoons are scavengers. (will eat a variety of...

Re: Vet/ toy advice

Hey guys just wondering what age have you guys neutered I'm the first raccoon owner to all the vets in my area and my current vet is learning along the way which is scarey but I wanted to make sure I do it as soon as possible so Behr doesnt feel much of a difference and the changes won't be drastic...
