Re: domesticated mink

I've been on the hunt for mink for a while! I live in Ireland, & mink are one of the very few animals you need a license for here. That's because the mink used ( & freed) from fur farms are American mink & they're thriving here, but are really destructive to the wildlife. Or so we're to...

Re: Are Rhino Iguanas more aggressive than Green Iguanas?

In general, they will be more wild yes, but it's nothing to do with their quality of life, some will be wild regardless of how well looked after they are, usually turning on their owners at 3 years old or the onset of sexual maturity. If its in a large outdoor cage it will behave more wild and insti...

Re: What are your favorite reptiles?

Yup they are :) I have a trade arrangement worked out with a guy where I'll do a partial trade with him for some higher end burms and boas so I'm especially excited, and any extra money that comes from them will be spent on some nice caging I have my eye on :)

Re: What are your favorite reptiles?

probably the giant pythons, burms, retics and scrubbies. I keep burms, boas and colubrids. My 2 females layed their eggs so in about 2 months I'm expecting around 70 babies.

Re: De-fanging

Having never had a big cat or even a medium sized cat I have no hands on experience but this is what I think. Big cats canine teeth are made for biting in to the neck and spine (I think) seeing that is typically how they naturally kill their prey. That all by itself would make me think twice about ...

Re: Taxidermy of an exotic pet that dies naturally?

If I ever have a truly giant snake of mine die I intend to donate it to the natural history museum or else have it mounted for my own use

Re: Is there usually something wrong with Iguanas in pet sto

Most pet store iggys are imported, either wild caught or farmed. The best place to get one is actually off a classifieds site or a rehome as there are so many iguanas that were bought by ill prepared owners out there that need new homes.

Re: Do Bearded Dragons bodies explode?

I'd say he's talking shite, either that or his dragon was dead for a while in the hot cage, its internal organs rotted and the pressure from the gas produced caused it carcass to rupture. The best substrate for bearded dragons imo are bran flakes as they are mostly fiber and they can safely swallow ...

Re: Pics of my snakes.

Thanks guys, yeah she's pretty heavy there, I think when I had her out and weighed her I realized that chances were she was gravid, and that's when it hit me how much she'd shot up in weight and girth. Looking back and on the advice of others, I probably shouldn't have handled her then, but hopefull...

Most of these pics are from September, they're the most recent I have, the one of the biggest burm and taiwan beauty snakes are more recent. http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/ab83/PantherophisG/reptiles/06%20female%20albino%20burmese%20python%20outside%20march%202012/DSC_0566.jpg My largest burm, a...

Re: LEGAL ISSUES FOR NON-U.S MEMBERS

Ireland (Republic only) : No exotic animal laws at all, you need a dog licence of €12.50 to be paid yearly, anyone with more then 6 breeding age unspayed bitches must register as a breeder and gets inspected, regular dog owners get no inspections. There are additional laws for hoof-stock and herd nu...

hello from ireland :)

Hi, my name is Teddy, I am a member of several reptile boards, and was a member of the apparently defunct exoticcatz.com board (my name there was ocolot4). I have a huge interest in exotic animals and currently my collection stands at 5 Burmese pythons, 3 boa constrictors, 2 Dumeril's boas, 2 Taiwan...
