Re: Loki the red fox passed away :(

Thank you for letting us know, I'm a puddle of tears, but thankful for the chance to give my condolences. What a great relationship, it was delightful to watch them.

Re: Bathing "rat"

Outrage culture. Rats might be my favorite species. How much can we hope or expect for a rat in a third world country? It's the stupidest, most
myopic take of all time. He's loved. Enjoy that, for crying out loud. Oy gevaldt, the internet can be exasperating.

We're dealing with a similar situation right now, a 9 month old rehome. Such resilience they have. ♡
Ness is gorgeous! Love those ears!!

Re: Indoor Raccoons - Do They Hibernate?

It'll be a lesser version of the torpor they will eventually have, but they do slow down and sleep more.
At 12 months he'll switch over from diurnal to nocturnal, too. :)

Re: Help with handling an almost adult raccoon

I'd do it while he's asleep, right in the bed. He might not even notice if you are giving him vigorous scratching to his butt?

With oral, I sneak it into a pudding or gravy.

Re: New to Raccoon life..took in an adult

So much depends on your house, but you can absolutely let him in and see how it goes, even if it's only for brief visits, I think he'd enjoy it. Also moving around can help him lose the weight. A coon can live up to around 20 years, you might have plenty of time together. ♡ P.S - my boys act like th...

That is fantastic. I pet mine gently, but I'd scream like a frigging schoolgirl if one crawled on me.

Re: Greetings from Belgium

Im so glad you're here! This is my good friend of several years, she'll be an excellent addition to
the coon group. Plus her kids are the most gorgeous raccoons I've ever seen, her Porphy is almost
completely black, I was so jealous when I saw him, Senora was supposed to look like that!

Re: Aggressive coon, need help!

By release I meant take down the cage completely, no more cage. Not throw him outside to fend for himself! The cage is the problem because he's becoming impatient and neurotic. The food is a catalyst for the behavior you've created through isolation and confinement. Keeping a raccoon in a cage is cr...

Re: Aggressive coon, need help!

Raccoons don't belong in cages. They are one of the most intelligent and adaptable animals on the planet. Without constant enrichment, neurosis WILL ensue. It's not a maybe, its a guarantee. How big the cage is doesn't matter - you are frustrating a wild animal. It's wrong to do this, and the conseq...

Oh jeez, I didn't think of their little idiot limbs getting tangled in there, if it could hapoen,
it would happen to them. The sand we gotta do, but trying to figure out how to secure
the aeration and vibration device is the issue we're mulling over. ♡

Re: Looking for coon updates

Omg Giz is beyond adorable, I love her little feet! So glad she's got a buddy. My cat, Stasi, is utterly affronted by the fact that the coons are here, and alive. A little abandoned dog was brought here, and they adore her. I use a device with a cruddy camera and no flash, so its tough to get pictur...

Re: Looking for coon updates

"Santa" is a guy we know very well who has been researching for the last year, planning his
own coon adoption. I keep their documents in the trunk, it's a small town, Santa is friendly with
their doctor. I don't see any reason to have fear.

Looking for coon updates

Hello everyone, The holidays are approaching and I'd love nothing more than to see some gorgeous coons! Only Senora and Jude made it to Santa this year, it was very crowded and we ran out of time. I'm not happy with the pics, but here is what I got. https://files.catbox.moe/4i89dk.jpg - Jude robbing...
