African Civet

Thought you guys would love to see this. It's an African Civet at Tbilisi Zoo, Georgia, where I've been three times. The videos are from my second and third visits (September last year, April this year). This animal is SO gorgeous and many of us in here would love it if they were in the pet trade. I...

Re: Confused about Fox Smell

If it's the urine, does this change with castration? Or is that not recommended?

CITES confuses me

What's really up with CITES in exotic mammals? Before I know I asked about tigers and jaguars, and got the answer that because tigers are crossed and considered "generic", they are exempt, while if you wanted a pure tiger, it would be different. Easy enough. I know the EU has different (or...

Have you seen that Park Exotics in the UK has Aardwolves?

Re: So can hyenas be kept as pets

I would love a striped hyena, but due to their large size and more difficult legality, I'd be very happy with a little aardwolf as well. Me and hubby plan to farm insects anyway (certainly it must be less complicated to feed large hyenas, simply lots of fresh meat, bones and intestines).

Re: Which Nordic country you think is the most exotic friendly?

Europe really is quite crap with its exotics laws. Only the UK has a DWA (dangerous wild animal) license instead, Ireland is very unrestricted, and also Croatia and Turkey, as I understand, but that's central Europe and barely-eastern Europe. I'm either moving to the US, to Ireland, or even to my hu...

Re: Can this be... A MIRACLE

So... could someone explain this to me, as "ESA for Dummies"? Why is the non-native species law bad, and what would we have instead? I scoured over the USARK link but didn't really get it. So treat me like what I am sometimes, an idiot. :)

Re: Which Nordic country you think is the most exotic friendly?

Denmark is much better than Sweden, and Sweden is much better than Norway (in this regard only). Denmark has a big market as far as I know, on "small" exotics, and exotic birds. I don't have the exact laws, but I'm pretty sure they have more exotics allowed than Sweden. Sweden is very simp...

Yeah, green reflection.
Also, apparently she's such a genius her best idea to cover rust is... RUST-COLORED PAINT.
That's what they say. I don't believe it for a second.

From 2014 it says. And she's still running her joke of a roadside attraction.

Re: Are Importation Laws Enforced?

So many people have their animals killed despite being legal, or because of silly laws that shouldn't exist. We should all come together and speak up against this, make a video to show people what's going on. People get really pissed when pitbulls and other dogs targeted by BSL are taken from their ...

Re: Can you own a Barn Owl?

What about non-native birds of prey, like Harris hawk? I tried to look up keeping raptors in the US without being a falconer (I have no interest in hunting with birds, and all the training - of me and the birds - that entails), but it just says it's impossible and illegal. This really shocked me, as...

Re: Hy from Switzerland

Hi and welcome. :) Do you know anything on exotic pet laws in Schweiz? Me and fiancé are considering moving there among a handful other countries (I'm from Sweden, as you can see), but we don't speak any of your official languages so it's very hard to find good sources. Mostly I see stuff being very...

Re: Wild-caught animals

Thanks, both of you, and I'd be happy to hear from more people on here. I'm not just talking about pets, but public zoo and aquarium animals as well. I'm kinda controversial in the whole cetacean debate, even on "my side" (pro cetaceans in human care, just as long as they're taken care of ...
