Re: Normal?

It's how they would groom each other. It's bonding behavior.

Re: Pork and Beef

Beef and pork are red meat. Well, they claim pork isn't any more but it's still redder than chicken. Redder meats are more likely to cause gout, something foxes fed too much meat(like only meat instead of balanced whole prey with some veggies) can be prone too and vulpes species also had the highest...

Re: Pale Fox

Personally if I had pale I would feed it similar to a fennec but more vegetation since the few studies on their wild diet I found showed them eating a lot more vegetation, making them the most actually omnivorous fox I know of. So whole ground rabbit(I order from hare today whole with organs and bon...

Re: Pale Fox

PS do you have any photos? I only know a couple people with pales but they do seem to make great pets.

pps: I'll be moving this to the fox forum but will leave a shadow top so it's easy to find

Re: Pale Fox

What a surprise, lol! I'm shocked anyone would be passing pales off as puppies. They're still pretty rare, but $1200 seems like the going price. TamanduaGirl is in Oregon and is very knowledgeable about foxes. She has a USDA license, so is permitted to keep them. If you did educational outreach and...

Re: Pale Fox

That's weird. Pale fox are still pretty rare. But there's a pet store there selling fennecs so could see them having one and them not caring enough to ask if the person new what they were buying. I've not heard good things about them. So maybe she saw them there in a tank and didn't read the sign of...

Re: Nutrition - I think I want a Fennec Fox

Shrimp could be used as part of the insect portion of the diet but I don't think you can replace rabbit with it. Shrimp has almost no iron, where as rabbit has a decent amount since it's a dark meat, as one major difference.

I've never seen any available or anyone have any. It might be possible to import them but I haven't looked into it.

Re: Red Giant Flying Squirrel

Were they planning on getting one? That would be great if we could hear first-hand from owners. Do you mean by they the friend and and fellow Sybil's den member I talked about?( If so I recall her asking some Japanese brokers/breeders if they made exports (she got no for an answer)) That's too bad....

Re: Nutrition - I think I want a Fennec Fox

Sorry the bug mixes that are sold for chickens. It's usually a cheaper way to buy bugs, when they are sold for chickens instead of reptiles.

Re: Nutrition - I think I want a Fennec Fox

I've seen the chicken mixes before but it's good you thought to share. I found Wellness Core Original Dog or Wellness TruFood Chicken & Chicken Liver dog only has 5,000 IU/kg of retinol but it has no taurine added so you would have to supplement so the instinct is still the best that has enough ...

Re: Grey foxes - Hillview exotics

Invisible fence will not work for a fox. It even takes training for it to work with dogs but even once trained if something excites them enough to run through it then the fence will prevent them coming back. It wont prevent other animals from coming and attacking the fox either. congrats. Grays do s...
