Re: New member introduction!

This sounds more like a sales pitch than an intro. What animals do you have? Are you interested in any you don't have yet? If you don't reply this will be deleted as spam.

Re: Aggressive coon, need help!

Most people sleep 8 hours on average. If working full time that's another 8 hours. That's 16hrs in the cage. You said earlier it was any time someone is near his cage. Since he spends most of his time locked in there that's all he's got and he's protecting it. He needs a nice large enclosure or at t...

Re: Aggressive coon, need help!

I think releasing him a bit extreme at 8 months, even if feeding him it will attract other animals that might fight with him over the food and could be hard for him to find a shelter with it being winter. Giving him a large enclosure should help a lot since his behavior issues only started recently ...

Re: Aggressive coon, need help!

What kind of cage is it? How big? Keeping them in a cage will make them aggressive sounds too small if you could move it. He needs a large outdoor enclosure or his own room with outside access to an enclosure. A good den box with hay in it is enough even in negatives. That's what they are designed f...

There's a bunch of papers but you'll have to skim the abstracts for the most relevant ones. https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C38&q=artificial+insimenation+vulpes&btnG= You'll probably have to buy access though unless you have a university library or something to get the...

Re: Foxes and Coatis

Yeah they are similar size so if supervised you could likely prevent serious harm if there was a problem and in the long run would probably tolerate each other. I think the odds of them being good buddies long term is likely slim though. I mean some people do keep their raccoons and foxes together f...

Re: Foxes and Coatis

The sizes are similar but their play styles are much different and the fox will likely just annoy the heck out of your coati or at best they will mostly ignore each other.

Re: PET OWL CARE

Not really. Your state rehab permit will not allow you to keep birds on the treaty list. You still need the federal license to keep/rehab them or go the falconry route. Some people do have the license, like our raptor center, their main goal is rehab but if the are unreasonable they are kept.

Re: Cuscus Husbandry

In their own heated room or indoor enclosure(like a insulated and heated shed). You probably don't want to keep your whole home that temperature. I would go with a room of their own with independently controlled temp from the rest of the house. Easier to ensure all goes well. A tamandua was lost one...

Re: Question about raccoons and raisins

No one really knows on the grapes for sure. They can be toxic to some dogs and no one really knows why but they have found it is the actual flesh of the fruit, not seeds skin or fungi etc. Foxes and skunks have also died after eating grapes but others are just fine, similar to dogs. I used to fed gr...

Re: Vega Thread (Pics, Updates, etc.)

Aw he's a big boy now. Training can be fun. I taught Pua to come to a special squeaker(only worked inside though), follow a target, and pull up a rope for a treat in a basket. Aneaters aren't as trainable as a smarter critter like a coati though so you could do a lot with him.
