Re: Looking for coon updates

What a lovely fur-family you have, Kagney! The new cat is beautiful! We have his identical twin brother at the place where I work. :icon-wink: I wish I could mix my coons and cats. Dewey was fine with cats before, but hasn't had contact with any since Bobby arrived over a year ago. And having gotten...

Re: My coon is loosing her hair.

Sometimes they'll just loose fur like that, and there's absolutely no health issue or parasite infestation. If you're not familiar with "cracking", it's a term to describe small patchy-type hair loss in raccoons. At one point or another, they all seem to do it. Mine typically 'crack' on th...

Re: Need male Bobcat for stud service

The Fraziers in Tennessee would probably be a good start. That's right, Ash - I forgot about Mike. Yes, I'd definitely contact him. He is a reputable breeder of many exotics, and I personally know several people who have gotten their pets from him. Here is their Facebook link: https://www.facebook....

It would be helpful to know your location. Can probably point you in a direction if in or near PA.

Re: Czech Republic

Ireland has no ban at all, that I can see. I'm FB friends with a woman in Ireland, and according to what she's told me, anyone currently in possession of raccoons can keep them, but they must be spayed/neutered, and after Dec 31 of this year, breeding, sales or purchases of raccoons are no longer l...

Re: pictures of enclosure

I think he was referring to the wood used for the nest box. We call it 'pressboard' or 'flakeboard' and - unless it's painted or treated with wood preserver - goes to h*ll in short order when wet or even humidity permeates it. It'll do in a pinch, but for longterm use, definitely 1/4" or even 1...

Re: Raccoon UTI?

Rosie&Roscoe - Would it be possible to move her appointment up a little sooner? If she's constantly wet and the area is irritated, in a few weeks, she could have a raging infection going on there - or worse. If I've learned ANYthing from my many years of animal husbandry (40+ yrs), it's be PROAC...

Re: Raccoon UTI?

I would think the symptoms would be the same as with any other mammal: seeming to have trouble urinating, fever, general malaise. If you cannot actually bring her to the vet, perhaps you could do a urine capture you could have your vet check? This sounds funny, but a soup ladle works excellent for t...

Re: Raccoon or other exotic limb amputation

Fracture/break surgery has been done on raccoons successfully. However, since the front limb dexterity is extremely important to a raccoon, if the repair isn't nearly perfect, that animal is not a candidate for rehab and release, if that is the eventual desire. If this case is a domestic raccoon, I ...

Yeah, I had tried the pull out type bowl for my raccoons, but they figured out quick they could remove the bowls. The bowls in the link above should be fairly stable for what EllieMae is looking for. Hopefully!

As TG said, these are just for privacy. I have them on my outdoor enclosure and they work great for privacy and for providing filtered sunlight in the hotter months. But they in no way would work as fencing for anything with claws or teeth.
