Re: How do you train not to climb you

I'm really not sure how Giz learned that bare legs are a no-no for climbing, but shes really good about it. I'm pretty sure it was the repeated NO's and yells of pain when she was a baby, but I don't remember exactly. That doesn't go for pants though. Its actually pretty darn cute, if shes frisky in...

Re: Baby suddenly not taking bottle

When my girl was a baby I couldn't get her to accept a bottle at all but she was too young for solid foods... eggs were a true life saver. I'm wondering if this might help in weaning your little ones. I gave my baby a raw egg (warmed up a little under running water) cracked open over a small bowl of...

Video of Giz and Grainger: Cats and Coons can be friends...

So I've been trolling my knuckleheads with the camera again... icon-smile These two play like this ALL the time. They wrestle and chew on each other then pop up and play chase. Grainger likes to try to pin her down and groom her head, its kind of bizarre and kind of adorable. Please excuse the state...

Re: Late night crying

Any chance its breeding season-related? I've heard that sometimes spayed females can get a little "off" during mating season, maybe the same could be true of neutered males as well. Do you think he might be picking up the scent of wild coons passing through your yard?

Re: Barkbox fun!

Oh, the horror of having to fish a soggy, half-eaten chickens foot out of the water dish! I just don't know if I'm up to it...

Re: Barkbox fun!

Your boys are just too cute! They look like they were having a blast with their special delivery. I was almost tempted to go ahead and buy a subscription, but with two dogs in the house also (large and medium sized) a goodie box for everybody was looking a bit too expensive for right now. The...

Re: Random Enrichment ideas

One that we recently stumbled on just by changing our recycling habits... cardboard kitchen toybox. We keep our trash and recycling in a closet/stairwell off the kitchen, but there's not a lot of room in there and the recycling filled up too fast. Solution: we put a separate large plastic bin (acces...

Re: Giz got a new friend too

He IS quite the little stinker He is a natural bob, about half of his litter mates were bobs too (the other half were solid white though, so I was a bit worried about deafness at first; turns out he just has selective hearing  ) They do seem to know their boundaries pretty well though, and Giz...

Giz got a new friend too

Hi everyone! Thought I would pop in and share some pics and a video. :) Giz is doing great and bopping right along through life. She acquired a new buddy this fall... everyone, meet Grainger. IMG_5520s.jpg gng1.jpg As she was raised around cats, I didn't think there would be a problem and it has tur...

Re: Canine Distemper Outbreak in Ohio Raccoons

Distemper is super scary, I worked for a vet for a few years and it was always a huge scare when there was a suspected case as it is so easily transmitted. My vet insists on the canine and feline distemper vacs for Giz, which I'm certainly ok with. Actually, she wanted to give her the ferret version...

Re: Keeping nails trim

I've tried to work with my girl since she was teeny tiny to be accustomed to nail trims and baths and such. That being said, I can still only get her front feet by myself. I've had to wait for vet check-ups for the back. I try to remember to mess with her feet when shes relaxed and just lazing aroun...

Returning user: life updates, flea prevention

Hello everyone! I'm not new to the boards, but its been a long time since I've posted and I created a new user name due to some privacy issues. I've been wanting to get back into the conversation for a while now, so here goes... I have a spayed female raccoon (Giz) who will be 3 this summer. Last ye...
