Re: my beagle?

I'm sorry, it really is so hard to see them struggling, so hard to try to balance the money with the amount of help you want to give them.

Hang in there. Praying you can get a vet appointment that gives answers without costing too much.

Re: my beagle?

I don't think her blindness is from nutrition, I was just using an example of times when a blind dog regained their vision. You take wonderful care of your animals! I might suggest another vet. Sometimes it is hard to find another in your area, but if you don't feel comfortable with your vet its lik...

Re: my beagle?

Certainly hoping for the best. I've heard of animals going blind for issues like poor nutrition or head trauma that regained their vision, not saying Lucy has that, but hopefully Lucy can do the same with her condition.

Re: my beagle?

Poor girl. I hope there is something the vet can do. While we don't personally have any fully blind dogs, many dogs do go blind (some at a young age) and learn to manage quite well. While it is hard to qitness, and I'm sure it is at first hard on them, dogs adapt very quickly and it does not lessen ...

Re: my beagle?

Poor Lucy. : ( Do her eyes seem swollen or larger than normal or just red? The main issues I've seen with dog eyes are cherry eye (when the third eyelid swells up), glaucoma (the eyes themselves swell), and cataracts. A lot of our older dogs have cataracts, and in some dogs it can start at a pretty ...

Re: Considering Arctic Fox

I don't have any personal experience either, but I did a lot of research on them a few years ago (I love foxes). There is a ton of conflicting information, like you said, but from my understanding, the most important thing to keep in mind is that arctic foxes do quite poorly in warm climates. It is ...

Re: my new duck

Usually, once our chickens got sick there was nothing we could do (though we tried). There are a few cases were something can be done to help, such as if it is sour crop or a "cold". If it is because they are old the best thing you can do is give them a warm, comfortable, quiet place where...

Re: my new duck

Aww, that's so sweet. I've heard about ducks getting along with other animals. My chickens were never that sweet, they tended to be bullies, but they were okay with cats and goats.

Re: my new duck

I'm so sorry, that's always so hard.
I remember when I would loose my chickens, sometimes it was just so fast
She had a wonderful life and was very loved.

Re: my beagle?

I think the steroids were so he wouldn't react to the stitches, but he did anyways, so they removed them early (they were the kind that dissolve, but they were getting infected). After the ones on his belly were removed he started doing much better.

Re: my beagle?

So glad Lucy is doing so well! Cinnamon is doing amazing! At first I was worried because he was panting, coughing, and, without the pain meds, seemed quite sore, but we think the panting was just his reaction to the steroids (he generally can't take them because they give him panic attacks). They ha...

Re: Why do some males hate females

It is likely just a coincidence that it happened twice to you. I volunteer at a shelter, work at a cat rescue, cat sit, and have owned a number of cats my self and some cats just don't like other cats (they can be quite the bullies). It doesn't seem too dependent on gender. Some male cats are bullie...

Re: my beagle?

Cinnamon made it through surgery! He is home, resting, and doing well! His brother made it 3 days after the surgery before he passed away, so I don't think I'll be able to relax until after 3 days. But so far so good!

Re: Donnie

Is he still using the bathroom? Some animals go in and out of the litter box when they are stopped up.
