Re: are ukc or akc registered wolfdog breeds are legal in LA?

I'm no expert either, but from my understanding at least the recognized breeds (like the Czechoslovakian Vlcak) are considered completely domesticated and are legal in all 50 states. Some areas do not allow "dangerous" dog breeds, which may include breeds like the Vlcak, but generally thos...

Re: is merck vet manual a good source?

The merck manual, from what I've heard, is a great source. I've used veterinary manuals before and they can be a bit complex, with so many possible causes for one symptom it often takes tests that only a vet can preform to know for sure the cause of an issue. Zoos often have some great wildlife care...

Re: Discrimination and worse?

This is a very helpful thread. I don't currently have a fox, but I've seen so many people discriminate against almost any kind of animal. People even are rude about us have poodle mixes for our allergies, calling them expensive mutts that shouldn't be bred. It really hurt because I love my dogs so m...

Re: Hello :)

Welcome to the forum! So glad you could join! Foxes rock! I can say that dogs are almost always more tolerant of new pets than exotic pets are of getting a new dog. Its sort of the same way with most animals from what I can tell. Our cats tend to like the dogs that were there before them better than...

Re: what is the easiest exotic cat to own?

Even "domestic" cats can do a lot of damage if handled improperly and/or unsocialized. Wild animals don't "turn on" people, they simply act like the wild animals they are. You can never, ever forget to respect the animal, and never, ever forget that their reflexes and reactions ...

Re: Are Wolfdogs Technically not Hybrids?

The word hybrid can be used with subspecies as well. I believe that the Domestic Dog and Wolf are separate subspecies of the same species. In this case, they are a hybrid. Sort of like a hybrid between the Zabu type cow and the European type cow. Technically they are genetically distinct, but not en...

Re: red fox colors maths

Some old "fur farmer's" books have some great information on fox and mink genetics. They are kind of hard to find since they are a little older, but more detailed than most modern information. Even have health problems that are linked to certain strains and information such as that.

Re: Can someone list some exotic birds.

Glad to help. I love talking about animals. : )

The funny thing is that American wild birds are allowed to be kept in Europe bt generally not America and vice versa. So depending on where you live these animals are available.
