Hello from Canada!

Postby Hunter » Sun Sep 15, 2013 8:18 pm

Hello everyone, my name is Hunter, which hopefully isn't a ridiculous taboo. (get it, Hunter? Bad Joke).

Anyways, I joined up here because of a growing interest in foxes and a few other exotics. This interest stems from when I was about 10 years old, when my parents took me to meet a coworker, who had a few wonderful animals. It was there I was face to face with a fully grown female Serval, along with 4 ring-tailed lemurs. I was, of course, very frightened at first but my parents informed me that these animals where rescued, adopted through the SPCA after the where taken from a cruel home.

Years later now, I am a sophomore in highschool. Before you act to possibly dog pile on me, I have no intention of purchasing any exotic animal until I am well out of school and into a career which i can bend to support the specific needs of any said animal. I am here to learn.

Anyways, I'll probably be around the fox and possible exotic reptile (If there is one) boards, so I guess hello, and see you guys around :)

Hello and welcome to the forum! :) I too love foxes and reptiles. I have a fox and four snakey babies. Snakes are definitely my thing; other reptiles are really cool too, but snakes just top the charts for me.

That's really neat that you got to see those animals back then. Servals are gorgeous creatures, and they're one of the animals I would maybe like to own someday in the future.

It's really good of you to wait until you get further in life. Too many people leap into getting an exotic when they aren't even out of highschool yet, and it almost never works out. Waiting is definitely a smart thing to do. I don't know if I could have waited, but I hope I would have. You're doing the right thing though. Just keep up all the research and learn as much as you can. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. ;) We don't bite.

Hello Hunter! I am also in Canada, specifically in Guelph right now (although I'm in Ottawa during the summers). Would you feel comfortable telling me where in Canada you live? (you could do it in a private message if that's better), I'm trying to put together a network of people in Canada who are interested in exotics.

I live all the way out in British Columbia actually, Chilliwack to be specific, which is in the Fraser valley. Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, I dropped off the face of the earth for a little while do to some connectivity issues.
