Wanted-Secure Soft Release Site for RES NE Ohio

Postby minervasden » Thu Jun 02, 2016 10:33 pm

Does anyone in NE Ohio have a secure (as in from predators) private pond they wouldn't mind a turtle in? A RES turtle habituated to humans and lacking survival skills was recently rescued. Probably a released former pet. Need to find a safe private soft release for him asap.

Note- The turtle is not in my possession and I am not making the final decision I'm only helping.

do you know about what type of turtle or the size?

a friend of mine might be interested. I will ask him. if possible, can you get a picture?
other than I could put him at my pond. but, since he could have been a pet, then I am not sure how well he would do on his own
I don't really know alot about turtles.

RES = Red Eared Slider. The size is 9". I do have a picture when I get a chance. A pond would need to be secure at least keeping dogs and raccoons out. Thank you for thinking about him.

guess he won't work out real good here. I have dogs loose. however, doubtful they would bother a turtle.
had some wild ones here before, they didn't bother. however, seems there have been a couple wild raccoons that close to my property.

didn't get a chance to call my friend, will call him tonight, if not, he is coming over tomorrow will ask him then..
