Wolves and hyenas

Postby Splashstorm » Sat Mar 01, 2014 1:40 am

Which state(s) allows both pure wolves and hyenas? I'm wondering because those are the first two exotics I really want that I dont think are allowed in Wisconsin where i currently live.

Those are two very dangerous animals, hope you are planning on a large, secure, and expensive enclosure for them! Oh, and lots of meat.

Hmm... I think most states you'll need some sort of permit. It'll be harder in some states than in others, obviously. In some states you may just need to be an exhibitor/breeder (USDA) and you'd be exempt.

You can own them in Illinois if you're USDA, get an import permit, and the state approves you.

But I don't think there are many--if any--states where you can keep both as "pets."

Try Alabama. From what I've read, Alabama allows the ownership of nearly any non-endangered animal without the need of a permit. I know it's late, so sorry.
List of animals I'd love to have:

Common Marmoset, Fennec Fox pair, Rock Hyrax, Red Fox, African Wild Dog, Striped Hyena, Grey Wolf, Spotted Hyena, Grizzly Bear, Lion, Wolverine, Giraffe, Komodo Dragon, Silverback Gorilla
