October 7th, 2017 The vixen from Bournemouth October 7th, 2017: The pale fox we were looking to catch in Bournemouth was caught yesterday evening and Claire (NFWS Bournemouth Region) is at the vet's with the fox now. We will get the mouth looked at as there is a problem with a tooth sticking out and will also get the vets to check for a chip just in case this is a lost domestic. Updates to follow After a successful capture, yesterday evening, this very tame little vixen was taken to the vets this morning for a check over. you can see the canine tooth is missing leaving her open to infection of the nasal passage and other teeth are missing on the same side. The vets really can't say at this stage whether some of these teeth have been removed by a vet or whether this could have been as a result of an RTA. She is booked to go back into the vets so they can sedate her and then X-ray on Monday. She was scanned for a chip but nothing was discovered but the little lady is very friendly and the vets checked her over without any need to muzzle her. Weight on arrival was 4.6kg. She has gone back with Claire (NFWS Bournemouth Region) and is having anti-inflammatory pain relief and has been given antibiotics. Updates will follow on Monday

Poor bae, hope she is reunited with her owner soon.
Highlights the importance of microchipping and a routine scan just to make sure the chip is still in place.

Hope the issue with her teeth is resolved with minimal interference and the little lady is ok.
Be the change you wish to see in the world

There's a small update though not super recnet. Poor thing was shot.
Monday October 9th, 2017 Lady the vixen from Bournemouth: It turns out that the damage caused to her teeth and the hole in her mouth was actually caused by being shot with a pellet gun! Full details to follow. October 9th, 2017: X-rays showed that this little lady had been shot with a pellet gun straight in the face and the pellet is still lodged in place, the only thing that stopped the pellet from penetrating the eyeball was the eye socket. The vets feel this happened some time ago due to scarring etc and initially was going to try to remove the pellet, but felt it was safer to leave it in place. The vet took skin from her pallet and lip to make a flap to cover the large hole in her mouth and they feel she is approximately 1 - 2 years old. David Holah, the vet, was happy to treat Lady because he too thinks this very friendly fox is a dumped or escaped 'Domestic Pet' and in light of this, did so at a much-reduced rate, charging us only £300 for all the procedures. In recognition, if you can, would you all please like the vets Facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/PVVets/
