The fennecs have an odd thing going on.

Inari is with Barbie.
Kitsune is not with Gruffalo but she does like him more then she likes Inari.

The four of them are working like a team to raise the kits. Barbie really has no need to leave them as Inari brings her food, Kitsune guards her as does Gruffalo however when Inari is resting Kitsune will take over transporting the food.

That sounds adorable to watch. But poor Sprite! How will she get to "mother" the kits?! Will that be her job after they've been pulled?

OMG, I really want to see some video of them together

PS: @Elina, I finally able to leave a comment in your flashman page after 3 tries. That anti-robot thing is just too powerful, it is even anti-human

She will get to eventually I just actually have no idea how the heck I am going to get them away from their family with the patrols  . The security around them rivals that of the crown jewels! (Just wait and there will be fennecs paroling the tower of London lol).

I plan to film them and how they are doing all of this as I don't think anyone else has. The closest thing I can think of is a meerkat colony. It really is truly amazing to see.

Sorry about the anti-human anti-bot thing , gosh it must be good!

I think I read in another thread mentioning fennecs are bad in parenting in a captive environment.

But in your case they are actually showing some kind of social corporation together looking after the kids. You must be providing them a very lovely and homy environment, they feel so comfortable and just be themselves like living in a natural environment icon_biggin.gif

I just can't wait for the video :piggy:

Doing my best video wise, no good footage yet but I am trying. They seem to know when the camera is pointing at them and they just won't preform  .

It has not all been easy. The kits started out in a dog bed in the middle of the fennec room (please note there are over 10 nice out of the way places they could have had their kits but no, they chose centre stage). Then one day when I was feeding them the adults grabbed a kit each (well 3 of them did) and ran out the door, down the hall and under my bed! After that as I had a ferret nation in my room so I could keep an eye on Akiko at all times I managed to tempt them to move into there instead of under my bed. . . These kits are well travelled lol.

But yes all along the family group has been working together which amazes me. I am so proud.

Really happy as I was 'allowed' to hold and play with all 3 kits last night! Gosh I love them all already hehe!

They are growing up so fast! Ears are starting their journey upward!

This photo is really bad but you can see all three of them:

Like many pedigree dog breeders I like to name litters so last year we had the Phoenix kits and this year due to the fennec kits being born at the end of the London 2012 Olympics we have the Olympic kits.

The above photo was taken of them on Monday but it took me a while to choose names.
