Illegal Pet Marmoset seized

Postby TamanduaGirl » Wed Jul 26, 2017 7:37 pm

I don't follow this guy but it came up on FB feed.

This is for all those that come on here and say they don't care if it's illegal.

Think they may have actually not known, somehow, but we get people on here who actually say they'll get one anyway when told it's illegal. This is reality animals do get seized. Breaking laws wont help change them, it will just get your pet seized and possibly killed.

Oh look, more disgusting police overreach into the private lives of civilians. Can't imagine the stress that poor monkey is going through being torn from his family, thrown in a cage, shown off around the office. I hope they can afford to fight, and appeal. That our legal system only provides justice to those with sufficient wealth and savvy is an outrage.

Yeah, what makes it worse is that his owners genuinely didn't know it was illegal to own him in CA. They didn't even know ferrets were illegal.

It really makes you wonder which breeder even sold to them.

His petition has like 20k signatures now, I hope he can at least convince the courts to let him take Sherlock and move back to Florida. And hopefully he knows he'll need a permit there.

This YouTuber is a popular vlogger who seems pretty affluent, so I'm sure he'll take it to court. And who knows, maybe he'll end up helping exotics in some way by raising awareness... That's just wishful thinking though. :icon-frown:
5 Dogs, 2 cats, 2 leopard geckos, 1 guinea pig, 1 axolotl, and a coatimundi currently in my family. :)

Exotic "wishlist": red fox, arctic fox, gray fox, bat eared fox, fennec fox, mink, muntjac deer, owl (any species).

possibly, if they would have not taken the monkey out in public, this might not have happened. they should have checked the legality of monkeys.

I do feel very bad for them. sad the dnr just don't understand or care how people bond to animals.
